Ok, so I'm a newb here, but I have a suggestion to whoever runs this site, that'd make the members, I know it would me, a little happier. On another forum I'm registered to, it's powered by the same vbulletin program, they have a pre-viewing option. So instead of jumping into a thread you can look at what it has first and see if you want to waste your time. http://www.bikeguide.org/forums is the website if anyone wants to check it out.

i dont understand why this is terribly useful; if its a crap thread then arent you still wasting your time reading a preview of it?

at any rate, I think this belongs in the Feedback section, not the Lounge.

Eh, sorry, new here.

Don't know why I like it so much, I just got used to it, made it easier to find the interesting threads.

It would save the user an extra click.

This is actually really easy to do, all it takes is a title argument in a link tag... e.g.:

<a href = "http://www.netmusician.org" title = "blurb about NetMusician">NetMusician</a>

Yes and once we turned off the "interesting threads" feature, membership skyrocketed. Suddenly any fool could contribute.

Got me hooked.

You know, I was just suggesting it. I had already figured that they've tried it before.

I can't stand large tool tips, in any situation. They always end up getting in the way of reading what's underneath, and I rarely care what they say. Having to whip the cursor across the whole screen constantly is not an improvement over the alternative.

What he said. There's another forum I used to read a lot but quit because their preview took up about 8 lines. It covered everything, hated it.

I could see where you're coming from. I don't go full-screen with my windows so I just throw the cursor off the window.

Meh I can't stand those little mouse-over preview things. Very annoying IMO.

I agree.

It's better to train / force people to use descriptive titles, and not stuff like "Wow, teh funnay"
