My cousin has a new real estate office under construction and he wants to get all the A/V wiring figured out before drywall (2 weeks out).

He wants to have 3 wall-hung flat screens throughout the office, on which he can play this real estate channel and possibly some in-house videos. His idea right now is that he wants to be able to have 3 screens able to run off the same feed (for day to day use), but still be able to independently control each one - and give each a separate source (for presentations).

If he can run everything from a single control room, he's going to need a couple long runs of cable. I've done some basic browsing and found that DVI is made up to 65' lengths, which should work out.

You guys have any idea on how to proceed with this, or should we just hire a custom AV subcontractor?

He should hire a subcontractor.

If anything goes wrong, he has somebody to fall back on. If you do it yourself and mess it up, it's all on you.

it's really not at all a hard thing to do, however if you're here asking where to begin then odds are you would benefit from a little help, rather than attempting it on your own.

you should get the best combo of knowledge and economy by just going to a home stereo/theatre (gag, but fine for this) store and telling them what you want to accomplish. basically you need a couple VERY simple audio/video switchers, the right cables to feed each signal source, and some long runs of cable to cover the distance to each screen.

it'll be really easy to design and build this on a tabletop and then just add the long runs of cable inside the walls after you've determined what plugs into what.
