I ask because they sure don't take pains to look their best. I complained once to them that they do not bother to spell check their news items. They neither emailed back nor changed their slack approach.
It wouldn't hurt the Mac world's image for them give a piddle. The cute one they included today was:
"IDG's InfoWorld today officially announced the recipiants of its 2006 Technology of the Year honors..."
Honors indeed.
Plugging "recipiant" into my Mac Dictionary app I read, "No entry found. Did you mean 'recipient'?"
I dunno. Think THEY did?

I believe in almost any news outlet you will find spelling and grammar errors. All in all, I'm not sure if its a huge issue. I don't think people contemplating a Mac will be turned off because of a spelling error at Macnn, or avoid the site for the same reason.

To answer your question:
Right now, MacNN is ONE hamster in a basement. That's it. Whodathunkit.
We are hoping for a second hamster (it could do spell checking, in addition to wheel cleaning routines), but no luck yet.

 I think it's safe to say that it is two guys in a basement rubbing each other, hence the grammatical and spelling errors. At least that's my excuse(don't forget to change one of guys
for a girl in my case).

Well, the hamster does a pretty good job with scanning the universe for Mac news, but I wouldn't mind a little more proofreading. (My own typos suck so back I *have* to have somebody else look over erevything. (see what I mean?)

I started a couple threads over the past year about really obvious spelling errors on the news site as well.

All this talk about hamsters is ridiculous. I once spoke to one that was not even able to multiply high prime numbers, so tell me how they would be able to run a server!

And the *good* papers used to FIRE people for making typos.
Alas, ever since the advent of word-processing, spelling and proof-reading have been in steady decline. The internet has sped things up to the point where thoroughness just isn't "done".
Professionality is very much also a question of presentation, IMO.
