in a while, breaks my heart, poor thing. ;-(

The pic looks a bit off to me, I hope it turns out to be fake.

"Cy, short for Cyclopes, a kitten born with only one eye and no nose, is shown in this photo provided by its owner in Redmond, Oregon, on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005. The kitten, a ragdoll breed, which died after living for one day, was one of two in the litter. Its sibling was born normal and healthy. (AP Photo/Traci Allen)"

So sad, but that happens. The hard part of being a breeder or a nurse.

This is really sad, my eyes are welling up. If this is fake, it is pretty sick.

Compasion is a quality that should be exercised more, and I feel that the more people that see this picture, the greter the chance that someone will try to use the image as some kind of photographic side-show, abusing the sentiment that led the poster to share this tragic circumstance with us.

I personally think this thread ought to be removed to protect the poor little thing's dignity.

Oh boo-effing-hoo. Mutant/deformed baby animals (and humans!) happen all the time. Most of them are dead already, this one seems to have made it for a day or two. Evolution is driven by random changes in DNA, and most of the time, the changes are negative (usually to the point of fatality). Sometimes a deadly mutation isn't immediately deadly, and you get a thing like this.

Sorry if I seem callous, but it is just nature at work.

I worked at a kid's hospital that had an old collection of weird specimens in jars. A few of those were cyclops babies. Whole babies. In jars. Creepy.

Good question. It was a very old collection - probably 1940s. They were hidden away in a basement under a lab.

None of you have ever been to the Mütter Museum in Philadelphia?

Lots of babies have been preserved as specimens.

The kind of parent who wants to help the advancement of science? People donate their bodies (and their children's) to science all the time. You can still have a funeral, just without the body.

That eyeball looks a little too big. I call fake.

I'm a bird. I am the 1% (of pets).
