Now that you mention it, I think so. It's not so much the voice itself but the way he is speaking.

Yeah it sounds like him. He's got a great voice for doing voiceovers. In this one it sounds a little lower than his usual voice, but maybe that was intentional.

I kinda like the ad but its a bit uninspired. I hope we see more when the towers are introduced.

btw, I have my doubts that a human hand is put on a waver in the process. Just guessing, though.

Cool ad... as far as I can see. Quicktime of course no longer runs at watchable framerates on my Mac.

Maybe I should get a MacBook Pro Xtreem: 5000 times faster than an iBook 500 G3™

Yeah, between that and the '4x faster than before' notebook claim (nothing is 4x faster than a 1.67GHz G4), I can't stop laughing.

That is one of the most dumb TV ads that Apple has ever put out. It tries so hard to be "epic"

He he he.... well, lets hope the marketing hoopla does some good. I think what apple is trying to do is just let people see that they now have some speed (if its true or not has yet to be decided) behind their rock solid OS. OS X has been getting good press about security and ease of use, but people still complain about the slowness of Macs. Now they an no longer use that excuse.

In speaking from the perspective of an Intel chip, everything seems so much happier. In other words, from the perspective of the Mac, the ad would run "The Mac, forever, has been pretty damned slow. But look, the Intel chip has arrived!" It's a pretty ingenius twist, actually.

...and hell, I'm peeing in my pants out of excitement. But that's just me.

the music was excellent. i remember first hearing it while watching the ending to HEAT. luckily i was able to id the song from the movie soundtrack, God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters by Moby.

ironically, it's not available on iTMS yet.

That ad is very good and will be very effective.

Keep in mind the ad is not targeting Mac users, it's targeting PC users. People will see the ad as an Intel commercial, and will be taken by complete surprise when they see it's actually a Mac commercial.

Put yourself in the shoes of a PC user who knew nothing about the Intel switch, who is the exact person the ad is targeting.

Great commercial. Extremely effective.

Definately Kiefer.

Surprised no one noticed the lack of an Intel jingle or Intel inside at the end. That gives the commercial a few extra points in my book

Steve never claimed the MacBook was 4x faster at everything the computer does. The 4x faster statement relates solely to the tests they ran. And in THOSE tests, it was 4x faster. Why is this so hard to understand?!

Haha I remember season one of 24. It was like one big Apple infomercial inside CTI headquarters. And all the good guys used Macs while the bad guys used PCs which was odd and funny.

I think that the TV ad is awesome. Saw it on TV last evening, very impressed. Gave me such a proud feeling to be a apple customer.

Talk about another "dull" little Apple ad.

When are they going to show how OS X kicks the pants off of Windows?

I disagree with your conclusion. If this ad is intended for PC geeks, all it's going to do is offend them. It implies that the tasks people do on PCs are dull and confining, whereas the tasks people do on Macs are creative and liberating. That's just about as false as those inane commercials Intel ran in the '90s that implied there was a living world inside your Pentium chip.

Apple's television ads for its new Macs boast that for years, Intel's chips have been "trapped inside PCs--dull little boxes, dutifully performing dull little tasks."

Now, the voiceover proclaims, the Intel processor will finally be set free.

Of course, that's not exactly the way Intel would put it.

"Never would we characterize our customers that way," Intel Vice President Deborah Conrad said in an interview.

Of course it's targetting PC users. Why on earth would a company advertise to it's faithful customer base?

By the way, I said PC users not PC geeks. Big difference.

Several people in dorm who watched the keynote (which is weird to hear me say since there were two Mac users here when I got here, now we have at like 15 at least in just two years!) said they thought the commercial was awesome. As well I have to wonder if this was Apple's way of getting advertising subsidies from Intel without using the jingle? I mean it's almost as much off an Intel commercial as an Apple commercial, I wouldn't be surprised if Intel was footing a decent chunk of the bill.
Anyway, I'm excited and am trying to find someone to buy my 12 inch PowerBook

That it does, so much so that I hope they share directors, otherwise I'm going to have to conclude that the people at TBW/Chiat/Day have collectively lost their minds and it will hurt Apple/is hurting Apple. Excellent song BTW.

As for the ad itself, I thought it was quite good, comparable with the 1984 ad. I think that the people who think it will be taken by the PC using public as some sort of insult. Apple is the only 'lifestyle' brand in the computer industry, no? How many of those PC users really like their computers, enjoy using them, or pay attention/care at all?

it seems like it was more of an intell advert than a mac advert.

It made intell out to be this big powerfull beast just waiting to be released and apple to be some computer manufacteror that thinks a bit to much of its self.

The best apple adverts are the ones they do for the ipod.

"Starting today, the Intel chip will be set free."

HAHA talk about coincidence… I was listening that Anastacia theme "I'm Outta Love" before to download the Apple Intel TV ad

-extract-

I'm outta love
Set me free and let me out this misery
Just show me the way to live my life again
You can't handle me
Set out my love
Can't you see
Baby that you got set me free
