Choice: I have a 2001 Ford Focus w/35k miles on it, purchased in the US. Uncle Sam paid to ship it to Europe for me, but will only pay to ship one vehicle back to the states for me (I acquired a new minivan while I was here).

So, I've been getting shipping quotes from several companies, and they range from 2200-2400 USD$ (so expensive because I'm getting it shipped to Colorado, right in the middle of the continent far from any major ports).

Argh!! Is it worth it to spend that kind of dough to ship a 4 year old car, or should I sell the bi0tch for a few kilobucks before I leave (she is paid off, have the title)? Discuss.

Sell it. It's not worth the shipping. Doesn't add any money to the car.

Sell it, then take the cash and spend it on a new model at home. I very nearly had an old Land Rover shipped to Canada before I saw the error in my ways.

It's a Focus. Enough said.

I'm tempted to go with the others here: unless you have a compelling reason to keep the Focus, sell it and use the money to buy another car when you get to the US.
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

It's a focus. Sell it. But honestly I'm surprised it's so cheap to ship a car overseas. I'm going to have to keep that in mind.

Take it apart and bring pieces of it across in your baggage. You may need to make more than one trip, so expect to vacation in Europe in the future.

Shipping port. His car is coming by boat, not plane.

When I moved back to the States permanently around 1992, I had 4 disc brake rotors for my dad's Benz in my suitcase. They weighed a ton but the price was about 1/4 of the same parts in US.

I felt awkward going through customs....
Please keep in mind the ambiguously selective general understandings we've all agreed upon...

Sell it and buy a new Mac with the proceeds - makes most people feel great!
