Hmmm..
My source said there was some stuff, "some very, very cool stuff," that Jobs couldn't unveil because of "supply issues."

"They can't get enough Core Duo (chips)," said my source.

I asked if there would be MacBook replacements for the 17-inch and 12-inch PowerBooks, but he said, "Oh, it's much cooler than that. Much cooler."
What do you think about that?

You know... I'm tempted to buy a MacBook just to snub all these people who are saying something better is coming down the pipe... that said not that tempted. Actually I don't see much reason to wait for even newer processors since Yonah is pretty good as it is, and I don't really need 64 bit processors. And beyond an inch thick I don't need a thinner laptop.

It's very strange that they were both "ahead of schedule" and having "supply issues." But I guess if an anonymous source vaguely says there will be "something much, much cooler" than a replacement for the PowerBook line, I can't argue with that.

Oh rumors these are for sure. I am not giving much credibility to rumors.
But I was disappointed with the keynote, and expected more. Nothing in peculiar.

It felt shorter than the previous ones (I have no proof of that however) and although the announcement of 2 machines with the Intel chips is good news, I wonder why only one MacBook, and not the whole series?

I may be totally off, possibly. But that rumor made me think alittle more than usual (the brains were heating up, you know...)

You do have an excellent point and it is a truism that, usually, Apple keeps on improving anyway.

Many other OEMs are using Core Duo, and at higher clockrates. I would be very surprised if supply issues with Intel were holding back other Apple products.

All hail the advent of a 13in laptop from Apple. I wish I had one.

Maybe we'll see the MacMiniPodPro?

I tend to prefer buying 1st gen products from Apple, because bugs notwithstanding, the build quality is usually superior to the revisions that follow.

I've noticed that with Apple and other companies, after a first gen product has been in production for a few months, they figure out how to cut corners and take things out of the product in order to save money on manufacturing.

So I'm probably going to go ahead and buy the MacBook, regardless of what new products or revisions may be down the line.

i usually find the second revision to be the best. thats when the major errors have been worked out and they still use the high quality materials.

Second revision or second version (which would be the first revision). I think it makes a difference. Supposedly a product that has been revised twice is "mature" and well established, but with the pace of new Mac product releases over the last few years, that might also indicate obsolescence.

I don't know which products you're talking about, but the first-revision Alubooks (867MHz 12" and 1GHz 17") were extremely noticeably INFERIOR in build quality to the second revision.

Not if Apple really wanted to get it out before the PC market, and to show no more of these 6 month delay's from IBM but to show hey we can do things earily. I think its possible. After its only one high end laptop and 2 iMac's.

I heard it was the MacMacMacMacMacMac that was going to be announced.
But when Steve demoed it to Phil Schiller and said boom, his head exploded.

Poor Phil.
