OK, we all know that some of us are more susceptible to the reality distortion field than others are. But I think when Apple has a keynote it's very rare that absolutely nothing that is introduced tickles that special part in you that makes you a Mac user. Last year's MWSF has me nearly buying a Mac mini even though I had no reason to buy it, as well as an iPod shuffle! I never did get the shuffle, but I did eventually buy the mini for my mom (and she loves it!). But I know after this keynote I had the problem of having money that I could spend... so I have already ordered a copy of iWork and of iLife from Apple. As well I nearly bought a subscription to .mac for the year (I held off remembering how much of a waste of money I've always thought it was, and deciding that I would first see if iWeb was all it was cracked up to be and what not).
As well I've nearly placed an order for a MacBook Pro a good 5 times I'd wager since it was introduced. Worst of all I half jokingly was asking a bunch of friends if they wanted to buy my 1Ghz 12 inch PowerBook, and apparently someone on campus is interested! So I'm currently trying to convince myself to at least wait till June to make sure that what's been introduced is all it's cracked up to be, and wait for the apps to go native, as well potentially some falling prices, or boosted performance.
So what I want to know from you is, how do you cope with a MacWorld? Do you lock your credit card up in a box with a timer? Give it to the wife? Repeat over and over "I don't need it, I don't need it, I don't need it." Or some other thing? Or are you one of those lucky souls who can watch a keynote and walk away happy and content?
Funny story as well, watched the keynote with someone who just got a new PB last year, and he said that he felt as if he's now become enlightened or something since now he feels like he's part of something... which is really funny... I think Apple's great for that reason... its' like scientology, you just have to pay to belong
