Won't most PC geeks just take that message as an invitation to do precisely what Apple disallows?

The kext isn't just for show. It's actively running and doing something, although what no one is sure.

Fair enough that they put the message there. Fair enough that the .kext is running and does whatever it does.

But for God’s sake, Apple, “dont”? Ever heard of the apostrophe?

The point of the specific text is that, if you're messing with this code deeply enough to see it, you "have been warned." Since the PPC version of OS X won't run on anything but Apple hardware, this wasn't needed before, but with the x86 version, there are indeed going to be people out there trying to make OS X run on their homebrewed, cobbled-together, "I happen to LIKE this particular part better than what Apple uses" kludge. That means they're going to have to get inside to find out where to tinker to make it work, and so they "have been warned." I'll bet there's some legalistic point to be made here, too.

I would not consider stealing Mac OS X. Just not the moral thing.
