What technology is used for the front page aggregation of data on sites like Macnn and LeftLane News??

It's often custom-written in PHP, Perl, ASP, or the like. Not sure about the NN specifically.

It's hand crafted in BASIC, Perl and Fortran. The database is a ClarisWorks 3.0 database running on a Macintosh LC 550 running the most up to date version of OS 7 (7.6.1 to be exact).

MacNN and iPodNN are an entirely custom system. Leftlane News is Wordpress with a completely custom template plus a few mods.

That's not true. By default, it comes with a one-legged hampstor. Unfortunately, MacNN never replaced it...
