Ok so since the old threads got long in the tooth and archived here is a new one.

This is a very informative story on Blu-ray. Seems to have a much higher bit rate because the disk spins faster. Also with all the extra room they can add uncompressed audio. PLUS it includes software that lets you run it on other networked devices. All Blu-ray players also play DVDS.

Can't find any advantage HD-DVD has now. There was even a story on Engadget how the cases for the HD-DVD's are terrible because they have a hump so you can't stack them.

HD-DVD players will play DVDs as well. This guy is obviously going to spin Blu-ray in the best possible light, so the article is a bit biased. But still, this format war is going to be over before it starts. Blu-Ray is going to win. The HD-DVD camp should just throw in the towel and save us all a lot of hassle.

I know he was doing his market talk but really what advantage does HD have? The only one seems is that it is a bit cheaper to manufacture but the end cost will be the same to the consumer.

Yeah well great and all. But...

But at least managed copy offers new ways for people to access the content. If there's a reasonable fee, people may be willing to make use of the content in a different way than just in their home theater.
A fee for accessing the content, which I already paid for, on other devices ? **** no.

I think the cheapness is it. But in reality the two formats probably aren't that different for the end consumer.

But, everyone is backing blu-ray. HD-DVD is already screwed.

Talk about propaganda. Blu-Ray uses a coating that is virtually impossible to scratch.

Ya well how about more than one Movie or a while season on one disk??!!
I'd rather have all of the India Jones movies on One double sided disk.

Yes, I want the quality product to win. Just want it settled soon rather than later.

I'd buy Star Wars again if it came with the original theatrical version and the special edition. But Lucas is a tard.
