Depends on the girl. It also depends on how smart you actually are.

My friend came back from Thailand with a beard. Now he looks like a sea captain. Its funny.

You read my mind. Thats exactly what I need. Now if I could find a used one, one that was a bit tattered and gritty, it would be perfect. Holy crap. That would be great.

After the beard has grown for a while it stops being stiff and gets softer. I've been told by a reliable source (my wife ) that the beard feels good to her.

It is important to keep a beard properly trimmed, though, and that includes shaving the parts you don't want beard on. If you just let it go, after a while you'll look like you just came down from your cabin in the hills-probably to mail a bomb to someone or start handing out tinfoil beany tracts. Really, unless you want to emulate Grizzly Adams, you do need to shape a beard to have it look good.

I've always been a fan of a little facial hair as long as you
a) keep in trim (5 day old scruff isn't cute)
2) keep it in shape (i.e. if you have a goatee thing going, don't let your cheeks get all scraggly)
iii) this is going to sounds weird, but i convinced an old boyfriend of mine to scrub a little conditioner into it, makes is soft and less

I think that it all depends on the person. It's only an . It is what's on the inside that counts.

sexier - sure

smarter - if you have ever grown out a beard you know how much it itches - so it may not be so smart to grow one.

Not sure about a beard, but definitely a MAGNUM P.I. mustache is both a sign of superior intelligence and sexual prowess.

Don't know about smart or sexy but it does get you noticed more. Have had mine since last August. i guess it did seem stiff at first but it's definitely soft now. Keeps your chin warm and keeps water from dribbling down your neck should you over do it. i trim it even every three days and round the edges nearly every day. A beard is easy to care for but the moustache is more difficult especially at first.

So does a giant ****ing tumour on the side of your head.

There is attention and negative attention. Hopefully nobody is looking at you thinking how gross and itchy that beard looks.

Oh dudes, I've had a beard for years. I can tell you this -- some girls will never look your way because you have a beard. We don't care about them. Then we have the girls who are curious about the beard. We teach those women to love the beard. And then there are those girls who just love a well trimmed beard. Those are the enlightened ones and will give you instant 1UP and heavenly satisfaction.

This is the truth about the beard.

But this is the thing right -- a well kept beard does not itch at all. Mine is 6 mm pretty much all around, but the moustache I keep at 4 mm. Then I shave the sides a bit and the neck of course.

That counts for one non-itchy beard experience I tell you

The itch stage only lasts for about a week or so, depending on how fast it grows.

I don't mind really short stubble beards as long as they shave the neck. Those "programmer" beards that grow down the neck are disgusting.

Not to mention most woman I know like the look of stubble but it give them a rash.

Goatees that are that mustache / chin combo are rather white trash and go well with a mullet.

I usually sport a beard. I look a lot better with one (I think so anyway, my wife's opinion may vary). then again, without a beard, I look like a 6'5" 14 year old boy. It's not pretty.

As for itchiness, I find it much more uncomfortable to keep myself clean shaven. Once a beard is about a week old, it stops being itchy. The worst phase is the day after I shave. If I stay clean shaven, then every other day is the worst day. It sucks.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Well that goes without saying. The difference is going from rarely making eye contact with women before to it now being a more common thing. As opposed to some horrified look a tumor would bring on.

Whether they like it or not? Hard to tell but the eye contact is very nice.

i like my beard. My wife likes my beard and in more ways then one.

beards are ok on some. I asked my husband to try it, he wasn't sure he would like it, and now he loves it. I like him either way.

his face used to get super-irritated and breakouts from shaving, but now he doesn't. Perhaps he needed a hundred dollar razor...
