Heheh so for the last week i've been doing a process for a new job, some phone interveiws and such and in the end what won it for me since it was a pretty close match between me and this other guy was the fact I drive a SUV with enough space to carry stuff and the other guy had a tiny little hatch back.

So my SUV got me a new job

I think im going to start singing I love the SUV song

On Topic: I loved my '00 GMC Jimmy when I had it. Tons of power and handled very well. Mileage wasn't too bad, I usually averaged around 17 mpg.

SUVs can carry quite a bit of cargo. A lot more than any station wagon that's for sure.

While my Dodge Dakota isn't a SUV but a truck, I have to say its come in so handy. I had a Jeep wrangler which had 0 storage capability. Awesome fun vehicle but no true utility purpose. Traded it in and picked up this baby. The only down side is the mileage

I don't travel much so it seems to be ok.

I love the enviroment, most of my driving is freeway, it isnt that much worst then my prelude on gas. Its also how you drive. I used to just beat my prelude using up much more gas then if I drove it nice. I don't think im using up any more fuel then before. And I am keeping the engine in top shape as well. Kinda got no choice because of the AirCare Program. In the last 20 years Vancouvers Air Quality has gotten better and better every year and its because of programs like AirCare. I bet my Charokee uses burns cleaner then the average car in cities with no AirCare type programs.

BTW, big fan of the Prelude. I wish I had a chance to drive one of the old ones with four wheel steer.

Perhaps that's useful in Canada , but in my area, we've paved nearly every inch. The only thing an SUV helps with is driving over curbs and medians because you're more important than the other people in traffic.

Honda always did build good cars (I drive a Civic now... 'Course, by the time I can afford a Corrado or the last generation Prelude, they'll be too old to worth purchasing).

There's two things I remember about my Scirocco. The insane weight transfer (bodyroll) in handling, and the most aggressive 5th gear I've ever seen in a car.

As far as I know, mine was an 83 body with a GTI dropped in from some other model. Can't be that engine because the rated top speed was 110, and I was able to get mine to hit the limiter at 118.

Getting back to reality- a Volvo V70 has a greater cargo capacity than a Chevy Equinox- just the first two I checked.

"Most SUV's have a greater cargo capacity than most Station Wagons" would have been a more accurate statement.

As would "most SUV's have nowhere near the cargo capacity of most mini-vans."

I have a Volvo 850 Wagon, mainly so we can take the dog (in her crate) on family trips. So many SUVs seem to have all their space in height, and not in length- a large number of them don't appear deep enough to put the crate behind the seat.

Granted, I haven't stopped anyone in a parking lot and asked if I could try to put the dog crate in the back... it's just an estimate.

(And since it was brought up, I have a Corrado too. Can't refrain from mentioning that.

Hit 140K last week. I got it at.....123K, as I recall. I just hope I can keep it if we have a 2nd kid. I managed to never have the first one in it until he was big enough for the forward facing car seat, but I doubt a rear facing car seat will fit in it. Good thing is my wife loves the C as much as I do...

The Volvo is at about 128K, I think. Yes, I have a thing for high mileage cars from companies that start with letters at the end of the alphabet.

Yeah, from my brief searches I've noticed that it's pretty much impossible to find any with under 100k miles, and that was like 4 or more years ago.

They may not have been a popular car, but they certainly were very well loved by their owners.

An Equinox is a station wagon. It even says it on the DMV registration.
