Who'da thunkit.

http://www.beyondhealth.com/toothpaste-waste.htm

A while back I was gonna buy a huge multipack of toothpaste along with soap, paper towels, tp, etc... at Sam's Club, and oddly felt compelled to read the back of the package. Not only is it poison, but has an expiration date. Not surprising, really, but why have an expiration date on a twenty-pack of stuff that should last a regular family years past the date if used as instructed?

(ps: who'da thunkit is my Drag Queen name)

It's just so convenient that this quack's site happens to sell non-toxic toothpaste.

Look at the last paragraph of the link:
A few years ago I spent eighteen months and considerable expense to find a toothpaste I could recommend. I sorted through over 200 products and was unable to find a single U.S. brand that met my standards. Finally, I selected a Swiss formula called Weleda. Weleda tastes good, cleans your teeth, and is non-toxic. Weleda is available at quality health food stores or at Beyond Health online or by calling 800-250-3063.
Sounds like a plug for his own crap.

Well if you want toxic free toothpast just mix some baking soda with water and use that.

As far as the toxic chemicals like floride...

Floride is in toothpaste to kill bacteria and to stregnthen your tooth enamel. He talks about this dental floralisis or whatever its called as a condition where floride destroys your teeth. The thing is that only happens if you ingest/swallow too much floride. If this happens both your bones and teeth will be weakend by floride. But floride on the outside of your teeth is still good for them.

Sam's club isn't just for family shopping. Businesses and other groups are also a trageted markteing group of Sam's Club and other warehouse wholesale/retailer companies.

For example: I know of a family that buys the large packs of tooth paste, take what they need, and give the rest to various homeless shelters or women's shelters. They do this with a lot of their purchases. It saves money for them and they are able to give more to charities.

That reminds me of Kindergarden Cop, since that guy had a baby.

No wait, it was some other Swartznegger movie where he has a baby, there are so many of them.. hard to keep track.

btw, that "beyond health" site may be total bull, but Weleda makes some really nice stuff.

I love their bath oils and aftershave.

Well, since the jury is still out, I'd be cautious of anything that contains Triclosan.

Meh.

If we didn't brush our teeth with toothpaste we would probably end up doing more damage to our health. I'll stick with the fluoride.

Growing up in Taiwan, this was my favorite (and most likely the only choice) toothpaste.

I went back years ago and it had been renamed to Darlie. And its pretty obvious why - although you'd wonder if the name change would've taken place if the company was never bought by Colgate).

This stuff rocks - the 'mintiness' is almost like mouthwash. Love it. Have my parents bring me a few tubes everytime they go back to Taiwan.

I don't know about toothpaste, but I was shocked when I found out recently that you're not supposed to stick Q-tips in your ears.

My uncle has this saying:

"Everything is poisonous, except water, but only if consumed in sufficiently small quantities."

Enough water will kill you, you know?

Apparently if you drink enough water (lots and lots and lots) you get kinda 'high'.
