Robot + MIDI accompaniment of the John Coltrane solo on Giant Steps (one of the most transcribed and studied sax solos ever).

There are a few wrong notes in there, but still pretty cool!

Reminds me of when a legit player sightreads a transcribed solo...

Very interesting. Thank you besson3c.

Sounds like ass. No variation in amplitude, and such rigid note changes. Blech. May as well have just used the 'sax' noise on the keyboard.

Of course it does, what were you expecting from a robot?

There were 4 or 5 wrong notes in there too...

I suppose in principle it isn't, although something is obviously blowing into the saxophone, and this thing looks to be MIDI driven...

A long time ago I saw in a tech museum somewhere a band of robot instruments. There was a flute, a clarianet, drums, something stringed I think, and a couple other. The flute was the most impressive as it had a pair of lips that changed shape depending on sound.

Cool.

I'd rather watch C3-PO perform with a Sax.

Do you find C3PO attractive? I think I'd want a piece of that robot if he was playing a sax...

Attractive, no. Entertaining, yes.

Can I ask in what way I implied he was a hotti?

You didn't imply that, it just got me thinking... I've been thinking about that robot a lot lately.

What would happen if robots had sex? Is the world ready for robot babies?
