I read that Rush Limbaugh, the American radio personality, met his wife (well, ex-wife) on an internet forum a couple years back.

I was taken aback by reading this, for two reasons. First, why would anyone want to marry someone that they met on an internet forum? Second, if you're a big-shot radio host with hundreds of millions of dollars, what are you doing looking for love on a forum??

And I wonder what forum it was.. perhaps MacNN? The guy is a well known Mac user.

Maybe he wasn't looking for love, but found it nevertheless. What if you enjoy forum conversations with a specific member, exchange some PMs, meet up in 'real' life and then fall in love?

How does it matter where you meet somebody? A forum is just a different way to communicate, much like the phone, or even a letter.

I would think the pivotal issue is meeting someone of the opposite gender who happens to be from these forums. After an in-person relationship has begun I figure it just becomes like any other one.

hey if there's chemistry in real life, why not. I'd wait until a real life meeting before finalizing the paperwork, myself.

Oh and if said forum member/woman uses Macs and hates Windows that's about as solid a foundation for a durable realtionship as any I can think of.

As long as you move it out of the virtual world and in to the real... I have no problem with it.

I'm glad that we have females on this forum.

Agree that meeting in person is important.

I have met close friends online.

short answer - why not? I met my wife on *Prodigy* back in 1992. We hit it off well there, so decided to meet. The rest is happy history.

I would totally marry Kevin if only he would stop toying with my affections and make an honest guy outta me.

Me and Zimph are married, "in God's eyes". We met here, we've never had a deep conversation though. Pretty superficial if you ask me.

I would only marry someone from MacNN if I didn't meet them in person first. Actually meeting them would just ruin it.

The thing is, nearly everyone hates each other in the Lounge. There are a few casual "alliances" and perhaps a couple people actually know each other in real life (WDLove and Cody for instance). But apart from that, everyone here is perpetually trying to one up everyone else. It boggles my mind that any of you, or myself for that matter, would actually want to meet an NNer in real life.

I met my wife on the internets. We've been together for 6 years. Who cares where you meet people. Do what works. I relocated to a new city and found that the internet was a great way to find people since I didn't have a social network.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Some people here seem cool enough. I'm not really crying that I can't meet them, but I wouldn't say I hate or even dislike most people here.

On second thought, I would marry Oisin, so I take that back about not marrying anyone on MacNN.

Oisin, if you are out there, hear my heart's plee. Come back from Japan or wherever you are and settle down with your one true love.
