Until recently, I've had a very difficult marriage. 2 young people from very different backgrounds...blah blah blah. I won't reveal its current status because this thread is about YOUR relationship. And you can be completely anonymous, so vote already.

I like polls without options so I'll vote like you and say blah blah blah.

We need to have a poll.

Since difficulties in relationships rarely dissolve by themselves to never surface again, we can pretty much guess your status wolfen …

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I'll come back to it after the poll gets 50+ hits.

Mine is rock solid and robust. When we first got together, we spent a lot of time exploring (and even just noticing) our differences. After a while, it became clear that, though we were indeed different and from different environments, the similarities were far more numerous and striking than the differences. Things like she grew up in East Texas and I grew up in Southeast Michigan...but our fathers were both in the same industry. We both had "some college" but she had a lot more than me, though we dove right into it once we had a stable address and stable incomes.
Psychologists and sociologists tell us that we seek out people who are both different from and similar to us. The differences are intriguing, while the similarities are comforting and help us relate and communicate. When it comes down to it, ANY relationship can work if both people WANT it to work. Some take more effort than others, that's all.
