Over 300 drivers and 4,000 cars were killed in the making of that ad.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the ad. Of course the quality would have been better in QuickTime.

Amazing driving.
But don't assume that just because people had no access to CGI they didn't have access to special effects. A lot of the footage is shot with an extremely long lens, optically shortening the distance between the cars. Driving on two wheels is a standard skill for any stuntman/woman and the jumps again were shot with a long lens. The trajectories were not half as close as it looks on film.
Again, not trying to knock incredibly skilful driving, just saying that the drivers were helped by the director of this commercial as much as possible.

Meh. Aside from how empty the roads were for them, I see the same sort of things whenever I go on Storrow Drive during rush hour.

My favourite non-CG ad of all time: Cog
The best part is reading the CG geeks descriptions of what's wrong with the CG.
Article
(Note, there are two halves to this ad, with one piece of CG linking them together, but everything else is all real.)

Well, if this is 20 years old (which I don't doubt - judging the cars), the music can't be original. This house sh!t is from the 90ies. Aaarrrgh.

No animals were harmed in the making of this commercial. Except maybe some turtles.

No offense, but I think getting 40 drivers to do things in unison is more remarkable than filming the same rube goldberg machine over 100 times that MIGHT work.

I don't.
They're both nice accomplishments though.

Why didn't they keep the original sound? That song, apart from being totally anachronistic, sucked ass.

Those were an entire series of ads. They just spliced them all together to go with the music. Otherwise it'd probably be some horrid 80s music with some japanese guy in a deep voice sayign the same thing ever 15 seconds.

I think that one part where the TWO cars do a powerslide in unison is simply amazing. :0

We could, except that I despise coffee. Even the smell (of the beans and the beverage) is repulsive.

Thank god someone feels the same way. For the longest time I wondered what was wrong with me because I didn't like coffee.

Yes, I noticed that obviously. I'd rather prefer some crappy 80's music to this crappy 90's music though.

Eh... but it would probably be the same music over and over.
