Doesn't sound like a bad extension - another way to get people hooked on apple products before adulthood.

yeah its a neat idea, but in the long run its just contributing to the fact that we are slowly being confined to our rooms, voluntarily too.

Hooked on what?

The service is free to universities... iTunes is a free download. The iPod 100% optional.

Yeah, most students probably won't take advantage of it. My school offers webcast lectures and other online tools, I definitely don't take advantage of them.

If this were available to K12 schools, I'd love to offer it to the teaching staff at my job as a tool they could use. They'd jump all over it, I bet.

I proposed the idea to my university student body government, and we're gonna work on it.

I work at a University, and got the email from the IT guy that Apple is giving a presentation next week to faculty/staff on what we can do with this.

Dude, this rocks. I'm listening to talk about Kant while folding laundry. School is so much easier when you don't have to take notes. Or are tested. Or graded. Or still in it.

Yeah I've listened to lots of it in the past couple of months, and I love it. I always thought it was a special Stanford thing, but now they seem to be pushing it more generally.

FYI, these are UNPROTECTED .mp4 files... and you can convert it to an MP3 in iTunes to play on any MP3 player.

Yes, one more step, but Apple could have been an ass about this.

Totally different purposes. PowerSchool is an SIS (student information system), so schools can track grades, attendance, curriculum, lunch money, parent contact information, discipline reports, etc.

iTunes U is more of a Content Management System, from what I gather, so that teachers can post content for their students.

Hmmm... I know a lot of students who would have loved this thing when in college. Miss a class due to sickness, oversleeping, being hung over. Way to go about using iTunes to be even more useful.
