The only thing Quiznos has going for it over Subway is that they toast everything. Subway's coldcuts are fresh that day; there's no guarantee that a freshly sliced piece of meat is any better than the hunk it's been cut from, so Blimpies "fresh cut" bit is a (very nice and very noticable) marketing issue more than a quality issue.

Plus there's a Subway ON CAMPUS, and the darn thing seems to have a vent fan right into the University Center where I hang out to study between classes! That's unfair advertising!

I like their turkey with all the toppings except jalepeño peppers. I have them use the honey mustard dressing most of the time. Yum!

Meh, don't like Subway very much. In fact I try and avoid it. I'd rather go for a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, toast and cortado myself.

cheers

Jimmy John's is way too expensive, though it's admittedly tasty compared to other offerings. I prefer a local sandwich place—specializes in Italian-style, good bread and ingredients, homemade potato chips.

I only eat Subway if I'm on the road and need fast food. If I can spare some time, I might stop at a Panera. The relative healthiness of Subway is much more attractive than McDonalds and the like.

In those cases:
teriyaki chicken, honey oat, spinach, cucumbers, tomato...maybe more...can't remember all the ingredients offered.

What a GREAT thread!

I love Subway!

My favorite is:

Whole wheat foot long bread
Cold cut trio (made with turkey and not beef) which is turkey bologna, turkey pastrami, and turkey ham
Provolone cheese
Lettuce
Black olives
Pickles
Light Mayo

I eat half for supper one night and the other half for lunch the next day.

My husband loves the:

Whole wheat foot long
Turkey melt (which is turkey)
Bacon
Provolone

All toasted and light mayo on top - no veggies at all.

I love Subway.

I like a turkey and shredded cheese on 6" monterey cheddar bread with bacon...toasted.

That's it. I'm an extremely picky eater, so that's my sandwich in its entirety. Sorry I couldn't be more exciting.

I can't stand Subway, god damn nasty. About once every 2 years I'm in a position that I have to eat at Subway (like, all my friends go there and I hitched a ride, but really hungry) and I'm reminded as to why Subway is the worst "deli" in the world.

If it's a fast sandwich I want, I'll take a #16 at Togo's please.

One more reason to go to Blimpies. For every 7 subs you get a free one. Down from 8.
Haven't been in a subway for 1.5 years now. My Blimpies even honored old Subway club cards.

Just had a panera sandwich yesterday, regular (not hot or toasted).

I was utterly unimpressed, given that it was more than $ 6. Will never do that agin.

I second that!

I had their "Olivetta" sandwich.

What a waste of money. I was SO unimpressed. I kept thinking, "Why did I come here?" Someone recommended it. The ambience in my local Panero is terrible. It was depressing in there. Very quiet and not inviting. Couple that with a terrible sandwich and...

I'll never go back.

When I got to a deli, I want a good sandwich that tastes like it came from a deli.

Subway tastes exactly like a sandwich I'd make at home, and most of the time a lot worse. Yuck.

12" Seafood and Crab on Honey Oat with black olives.

I used to be hooked on their Chicken Teriyaki on Honey Oat. Got it almost every day for 1 1/2 years.

My wife bought me Subway gift certificates for my birthday last weekend so I'm going there this afternoon.

Ha! I lived in an apartment directly above a Subway for a year when I was in college. People told me that I smelled like bread all the time.

I like:

steak and cheese (monterey jack) on Italian herb and cheese bread or honey and oats, toasted. Add lettuce, onions, hot peppers, and south west sauce.

Delicious!

There is a CHOICE of cheese?
The choice is Cheese or no cheese here in the UK.

There only competition* is local 'sandwich shops' which all charge more money and are staffed by people who usually have some sort of problem making sub sandwiches so all the filling doesn't fall out with the first bite, and Marks and Spencers who sell really nice but pre-wrapped sandwiches.

* Excluding all the usual 'fast food' joints, McDonalds, KFC etc.
