How can you spot these, and how long do they take bounce back? I just got
a Travelers MoneyGram for an ebay item. Buyer in LA, issuing bank in MN. Looks
legit, but I don't like taking chances. Is it worth defrauding someone for $51?
I actually had a bank tell me that another bank's traveler's checks were not good there because they didn't recognize that bank's name. It was Michigan National Bank that said Dallas Bank and Trust wasn't a "recognized name" in 1979, We got the travelers checks from our credit union, and they were indeed legit. I never did business with MNB again.
Moral? If a bank can screw this sort of thing up, are you going to feel qualified to ID a fake? By the way, have you tried looking here? Traveler's Express has been selling MoneyGrams for some time. Ask THEM about it.
