Just thought I should let the other top gear fans that tonite on Discovery channel, they'll be playing episodes until about 2 this morning I think. Not sure if they're new episodes, but they're new to me since I rarely catch them.

I'm a relative novice to cars, but I figured I'd tune in anyways.

This show really is incredible. Everything about it; the hosts, the music, the cinematography.

I saw one episode of top gear and liked it so much I bothered to write the name of it in MacJournal. When it does it usually air? (Funnily, I read the thread's title quickly and thought, "who would bother to run Top Gun all night?")

You should see me in the background of some of those episodes. I went down to the studio when they were re-filming the links between the VTs for an American audience.

I wondered why my TiVo was going crazy last night. The record light was on solid every time I looked.

that winter olympics one looks awesome!
as for whenit usually airs, I remember hearing that wednesday nights at 10 they showed the newest episodes. But last night was something called "Turbo Thursdays" I guess they're going to have car type shows every thursday now. But no other car show can even come close to Top Gear.

that's because all other motoring shows have to (eventually) answer to advertisers. The BBC does not.

haha so true, the car's TV shows in my country are pure lame, all are the same, you get reviews where the cars are perfect, the cars don't have the single flaw, they all look gorgeous and are pieces of art, LOL, no wonder the shows are full of car makers ads… so irreal I gave up a long time ago…

surely, car enthusiasts in the us must have seen MotorWeek on PBS at least once. it's been on the air for over 25 years! but i agree with the others that even the channels just about cars pretty much stink. if only there was a channel that did solely or predominantly conducted car reviews.

But you don't have commercials do you?

I am sure The Discovery Channel pays the BBC to replay Top Gear in the USA. So, you are actually getting a tax break because we* in the USA watch it with commercials.

You're welcome.

MotorWeek's been on here in the states for years, It's not half bad. Obviously nothing like Top Gear though.
