I'd be interested in reading a review of it's riding characteristics, specifically low speed tight radius turns and whether riding at freeway speeds leaves a gas tank shaped indentation in your chest.

demograph68, there are a few models and replicas of The Akira Bike. Not all of them are 100% accurate, but they are close.

Reminds me of a more streamlined/practical version of the dodge tomahawk in some ways (though the Aprilia is much nicer. Aprilia rocks.

Looks like the offspring of a Bimota Tesi 1D and an Egli Shark. Super Prone riding position of the Egli, Hub centered steering lifted off of a Tesi. Just another goofy styling exercise, but I suppose it is intersting in a way.

The first time the test rider tried to turn the Tomahawk it fell over. Functional as all get out. Hub centered steering is nothing new, it has been put into production a couple of different times since 1993ish. First with the Bimota Tesi 1D then later with a Yamaha (can't remember the name off hand). Hub centered steering is really good in that it negates dive under braking and increases cornering stability because it eliminates fork flex. Downside is that is supposedly a handful for low speed steering, as it decreases turning radius considerably. I'd guess it never really went anywhere because it wasn't worth the effort to put it on a race bike.

Pretty bright for his age then!
Seriously though, after I thought about it awhile I figured maybe he has always (for however many years he's been around) wanted something with this machine's capabilities and characteristics and only two years ago did science make his dreams come to life.
