awesome.

And I ain't easily impressed.

Back in the day I played around with touchscreens in some of my casemod/extreme overclocking projects. But I never found a good use for them....other than video poker and maybe jukebox applications.

woah, is this an actual Apple technology? I've heard rumors about multi-touch on Engadget but I figured they were just more patents that will never see the light of day.

Pr0n will never be the same...

But no kidding, this is really awesome; all the things we could do with this type of technology!

I'd like to see some actuators at the other end...

Well, hopefully some company will actually implement this. I'd hate for it to become one of those cool technologies which will never be released, like digital ink or the Apple tablet.

At first it was "meh", but when you got to the point where he was resizing the pictures, it got impressive.

I thought it sounded kind of familiar. It's been a while since I watched that. Thanks, starman!

My wife has a laptop from her job. It is equipped with touch screen technology. it is very helpful for her to enter data about her patients. Uses a special tool. A lot of it is answering questions.

Check out the top of the screen when he's demoing the Google Earth-like maps. Isn't that a dock?? He switches between apps!

Here's Engadget's article on Apple's patent.

And here's the full patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Wow, that is amazing, this may be the future of computer/user interfacing. The touch screen is not a fully new idea though its the apps that really interested me.

In Minority Report it was even better because Tom Cruise used gestures in the air with gloves on and there was also a touchscreen computer. This was the way touchscreen was always supposed to evolve in naturally the problem is what about fingerprints and scratches.

I can't wait for operating systems with fullscreen applications, resolution free and real world interactivity. I'm sick of windowed applications and fixed resolutions and clicking on sh it.

Nice catch! At least we know it works with OS X.

At one point you can see the Macintosh HD on there too.

I can't see any Mac on Jefferson's site tho it does look like a Quartz extreme tech is used. It can be SGI or Sun under there.

The photo part got me excited. Clearly someone needs to invent a way to remove the french fry grease from our fingers so we don't smug the screen while eating our Wendy's fries.

I echo the above. I thought it was cool, but couldn't see what it's practical application was until the photos showed up. Then everything got cool. Really Cool.
