This picture sums up all the problems with the A&F brand. Does it get any worse?

He's 61 (if you didn't click the link).

I'd say:
-Plastic surgery
-Dental Implants (Superman teeth)
-Dyed hair, of course
-Light steroid use is possible

Actually.... i read an article a couple of weeks ago, not sure if it was Time, Business Week or Forbes or something else, but it listed some of the best CEOs. Jobs was there, as was this dude.

He pretty much turned the company around(much like Jobs did to Apple i think).

And as far as his "look"..... i dont know. But ive seen many older men and women who surf regularily, who maintain a youthful appearance....i mean we're talking men and women in their 50s who look like theyre 30-35. Since i do surf....you do get sand blasted on the beach breaks which smoothens out your skin. Just a possibility. That combined with the workout and fun involved in surfing could explain youthful appearance. i went from 'looking' 25 to 'looking' 19..... i'm 25 btw, and surf at least twice a week.(in fact im headed out right now, although the swell has died down )

And being a surfer, i can vouch that Billabong, Rusty, Quicksilver, etc...do have similar styles in clothes. and A&F has borrowed from them and vice versa. I guess A&F has brought the beachy culture into main stream middle America imo.

Cheers

I think the difference with this guy is that he looks every bit of 61, even older. I mean, he's got nice hair and he's in good shape but the face is very telling. No matter how much (if any) work he's had done on his face, he still looks like he could be 60 or 70.

Reminds me of that lady from Strangers With Candy

Big difference.

Steve is aging gracefully. He's not dying his hair black every chance he gets, and he's not getting facial implants and face lifts left and right. Every year his hair seems to get thinner and more salt-and-pepper like, and he seems perfectly content with that.

This guy, on the other hand, can't accept the fact that he's old. Because of that, he got 'x' amount of surgeries to correct the hand of mother time, and decided to alter his appearance to what he believes is perfect (albeit, a drastically plastic and fake look).

Old men shouldn't wear shirts that tight. It's disgusting. And I wouldn't be surprised if he looked worse off-camera... I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess that image has been smoothed and altered by means of Photoshop.

I hate old people who want to look young and wear the same clothes as young people. I would absolutely hate it if my parents were like that. I know some people who's parents are still clothed like 20 year old while they're nearing 50.

Whats with all this negativity ?

Go to a beach and you see guys from 9-90 wearing boardies, t-shirts and flipflops. big deal.

He's managing a rather huge(and succesful) company, and he isnt in a suit. i think thats cool. I'm 25 and i act 18 ...and i probably always will lol. Jobs is what 50 ? and he walks onto stage in jeans and sneakers.....is he pretending to be "young" ? is he "supposed" to be in courdoroys or dress pants and formal shoes ? give it a break.

If you want to complain about old ppl...complain about the way they drive. this guy seems like a person i can have a conversation with as does Jobs.

I can't believe some people are so divorced from reality that they think this guy here is normal

I'll concede that it is normal for aging baby-boomers to walk around in t-shirts and flip-flops.

But it isn't normal for them to have such a plasticy, artificial look, while wearing tight clothes that are designed and marketed to high school students.

In any case, I'm not saying that he shouldn't go around pretending to be a highschooler. He can do whatever he wants. But he still embodies all the bad traits of the AF brand.

You are totally missing the point. People have a problem with this guy's attitude. Listen to what he says when asked why his hair is dyed blonde: "Dude, I'm not an old fart who wears his jeans up at his shoulders." Its called aging gracefully. And it really is sad to see people who can't do it. You are 25 and still act 18. That's acceptable, especially if you still hang out around people that age. But what happens when you're 30 and still acting 18. It gets pathetic at that point. And why? Because of the romantic/professional aspect of it all.

Romantically, if you act 18 the only partners who will be interested in you are 18 year olds. If you can live with this at 25, then more power to you. But how many 18 year olds are interested in 30 year olds?

What about professionally? When you're 40, how many other people your age will think you are cool because you still act like a high schooler? Look at Mr. A&F here- I wonder how many friends his own age he has? I wonder what his romantic lifestyle is like? Is he married? I didn't read the rest of the article b/c I didn't want to register for Salon Premium, but somebody please tell me.

from a "girl" point of view, Steve's a serious geek alpha male. Aside from that single-minded megalomaniac thing I'd go for him.

This guy, on the other hand gives me the creeps. That long article was in Salon and I think it did say that he's had work done but he's very secretive. So TRIED and so DONE. As totally manufactured as the company look, which in fact he's wearing. The hair dye has got to go.

The whole A&F look is so pathetically desperate anyway.

I'd like to see what some of the people complaining wear. No doubt something lacking taste or style.

I personally wouldnt wear AF clothing, but to each their own. Some people look good in it.

So let me get this straight, it's okay to insult AF's clothing and customers, but when you insult the CEO everyone gets defensive?

I used to buy Abercrombie clothing (I worked at Hollister) up until I was 26. I still wear the stuff that I have, but I feel too old now that I recently turned 27 to be walking around in those stores. If you don't feel you don't belong, you shouldn't be there. I'm just saying that the CEO needs to understand this too.

moving on....
I'm a surfer...most of my everyday clothes consists of Billabong, Quicksilver, Rusty and A&F. the style(or lack of) across those brands are quite similar. i like em.... i'm a surfer at 25 and im probably gonna be a surfer at 50.
Dont get me wrong....i do have formal clothes , suits, etc.... but i feel comfy in my surf wear and A&F.

If anything...i think A&F can be credited with bringing the beach culture to middle America...and of course...AE,et al...follow suit (for a good reason).

As far as this dude wearing A&F.....get over it. theyre just clothes. i'd like to see Jobs usings anything auther than an Apple or Gates using a non Microsoft OS, etc...

Isnt there anything more worthwhile to discuss ? lol

Cheers

Its one thing to manage to pull off the "young at heart" thing when you live heathy and look young.

That guy looks like a gargoyle. Its horrific. That isn't healthy. That isn't "young at heart". That is "I'm terrified of death and hyper-obsessed with my image" which has been heavily plastered, and spent too much time on an orbital sander.

Nobody is saying (I hope) that old guys HAVE to wear old guy clothes, but it isn't the clothes that are freaking me out. Its that plastic ken doll mask that has been hot-glued on to that man's body.

Wow. You are 25, act like you are 18 (according to you), but you pay attention like you are 7. Read the posts above: its not the clothes that people are complaining about. Re-read everything and maybe it will make sense this time.

Or, i could get a life instead of criticizing a person and the choices he/she makes that makes them happy and has no effect on me whatsoever.
