I don't think they need to clone...

That being said, I think they could expand into the ultra-low end systems. I would love to see a $399 Mac with a CRT monitor, keyboard and mouse (obviously more if you want a DVD burner, higher end graphics card or more than 256 of RAM or over 40GB HD)

Your answers are awfully cryptic... Sorry.

I don't see the point of bringing back clones. The reason clones existed is because the only manufacturer for the Mac OS was Apple. That market was opened. With OS X being x86 native, the better solution would be for Apple to remove the roadblock, and have it start being installed on everyday PCs.

I would give the argument of the whole widget, but I think that concept is floating away. The Mac Mini is meant to be integrated into an existing PC setup. I see OS X being sold to PC users in 10 years or so. (I dunno if it'll still be OS X by then, but what ever Mac OS is being produced.)

In time all the PC clones will be Mac clones. But to answer the question seriously, no I wouldn't want the clones back. I had a PowerComputing thing and well.. it wasn't very good. To be fair, neither were the Apple offerings back in 1996 when I bought the clone but hey

cheers
