The company I do a lot of work for bought me a Flybook. It arrived today.
It's not a Mac, but it's pretty darned awesome.
Flybook
It's only running XP Pro so that's a huge negative, but I really do like it.
I think Apple should make something similar. It's actually pretty nice despite small size. I like the iBook but it's too cheap for me and the 12-inch PowerBook is tired since I'm on the larger PowerBook.
It's a great little system and best of all, it was free.

Wow - how did you get it for free?
I'm in need of a Windows based machine to run some software for our school PTO and cub scout group. I can't wait until the Intel MacBook Pros can boot into Windows - so I'm going to have to look at another solution. This looks pretty nice.
How about posting a review here?

Why not just get a 12" iBook or Powerbook? They aren't that much bigger than that flybook thing.
And the iBook is anything but "cheap."

If you can tell her where to get one for free, she'll probably go for it.

Hmmm wonder if you can put the cracked OS X on it... I think I'd actually try if I got a free PC... which maybe makes me a bad person... it wouldn't be my primary Mac.

LOL!
You're funny, Salty! Can you imagine putting OS X on it? Honestly, that would be WAY cool.
They sent it to me because they wanted to me be able to tell them what I was doing (work wise) using Windows instead of Mac OS X (some technical writing stuff including downloadable .pdf files) and I have a Mac. The guy I was working with said, "Listen, if you had a PC notebook it would be easier for us to communicate because I don't use Macs." Next thing I know, it was delivered with a nice note.
Now, about the iBook, they're nice, but I have a 15-inch PowerBook that I love and prefer.
Anyway, so far I actually do like it, but I do NOT like it as much as my PowerBook as far as the interface, of course. OS X is much better.
I just wish Apple had something like this - it's banging cool, especially with the stylus interface.

The ibook is cheap and I don't like the keyboard and the trackpad/button on it blows.

They sent black.
I'd have preferred red, but apparently he wasn't sure I'd like red, but red would have been awesome.
Now, think about this: What about some subnotebooks for the PowerBook in COLORS?
Just like the Flybook?
Not some el cheapo student versions like the iBook (why DID Apple get rid of the aluminum on the iBook anyway? That really ruined it for me - it was the cheap way out to make money) but a really nice system, smaller, in a nice palette of colors like the Flybook.
Apple should take a cue from Flybook. I was really surprised when it arrived...I'll admit that I hadn't even heard of the Flybook then I called him and he said, "Everyone wants them up here in Manhattan and it's what I use so I sent one to you too."
It's nice, but I'm actually working on my Macs this morning and I have plans to buy a new iMac in the next couple of weeks.
BUT, if someone needs or wants a PC notebook I do recommend this Flybook - really fast, snappy, and just plain cool.

That's cool, black is what I would've chosen also. The red looks nice also and I probably would have chosen that one if I didn't have a penis.

I still wish Apple would create a sub-notebook. With wireless, it wouldn't even need an optical drive. A nice little screen, keyboard and OS X (that would run mail, Safari, and the iApps quasi fast).
This shouldn't be unrealistic with the move to Intel.

That's the tightest pc product that I've seen in awhile.
Has anyone noticed that it doesn't have an intel or amd processor?

No, not me - I didn't notice that at all.
Spec page here.
In fact, I didn't pay attention to anything spec-wise at all until you mentioned it.
It's just really fast, really easy to whip out, and so completely easy to take with me places that I love it.
It's REALLY portable.

looks nifty-cool! If I were to replace my PDA with something, a little sub notebook like this would fit the bill.
but I wonder what about downloadable PDFs doesn't work with both Macs and PCs? using full acrobat?

LOL!
A bag for $875.
When I win the PowerBall lottery next time around I'll buy everyone here one of these doo-dads.
Truth be told, I still prefer the PowerBook and when I have to I use my husband's Sony Vaio (which I also like - it's nice.)

That is a cool looking PC, I'd carry around something like that. My boss has a treo and it looks like one of those up against his head.

Congratulations Cody on the Flybook. I think that you are a very deserving person. I hope that this it is working flawlessly for you.

Ok, I've got around $2500 of company money to buy myself a lapop and I can't decide between a Thinkpad Z series or Thinkpad T series as a desktop replacement... OR some kind of Tablet PC as a desktop companion.
I've owned plenty of T series and I know they're great, but I've yet to get my hands on a Z series. Cody's positive experience with the tablet is really making my decision harder...

It would be cool if it had flash based storage like the Nano, it could be razor thin.

I certainly miss the friendship that I had with Cody. Thing that she is probably the best friend that I have ever had or will in the future. We have so much in common. So much misinformation has done damage that has hurt Cody and I deeply. Only Prayers and Jesus Christ himself can bring us back once again. To ask for forgiveness and wait.

That's hawt. I'd like to add one to my collection of Macs. Face it, sometimes, one just needs a Windows-based machine for some things.
