My idea for Sony to make a lot of money

OK, it's probably a bad idea, but here it is:
Just have Sony release an honest to god Gaming OS that can install on x86 PCs. Have it so it can run all the existing PS1 and PS2 games, and offer a realy easy kit to convert existing PC titles to run on the Sony OS.
Pay Valve and others a crap load of money to make some sort of Half-Life exclusive game for it to entice some of the PC only gamers.
The new consoles are practically computers already, why not just make an OS just for games? And I don't mean Vista Ultimate Edition.

why the hell would you need a "gaming OS"? developers who develop on the PC do so because they dont have to pay anyone license and royalty fees. ever heard of windows? yes? well suprise: it runs games.
