Can anyone point me to an alternative to www.versiontracker.com for keeping track of the latest Mac OS applications updates? Versiontracker is sooooooooo slow...

Well, there's always The Site That Must Not Be Named, but I suspect that even linking to it is likely to cause a flamewar.

Freshmeat is actually Linux-centric, but they do cover many open-source Mac applications well. The problem is that they don't cover commercial stuff most of the time.

I've used them exclusively since Christmas. Great advertising ploy.

MacUpdate is currently the best site for application updates for the Mac, irrelevant political positions notwithstanding.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

'scuse me, just red dotting this baby.

VT is so crappy compared to MacUpdate, it would take replacing the star ratings with little crosses and banning all listings from New York or California for me to stop using it.

I check Apple's site sometimes since I like seeing screenshots. Most of the time I go to macupdate.com though.

MU put up a 'Merry Christmas' splash page on December 25, as many sites do. However, their splash page was more explicitly religious than many such pages, and this hurt some people's feelings. One such person came here to complain, and much drama ensued.

They're really slow. I use Macupdate and don't care what friggin' religion they are.

A bit of uncalled-for religion isn't going to stop me from using an obviously superior software site.

I like Version Tracker, I've had it for a number of years now.

It wasn't just a "Merry Christmas" page. It was more like a "you're going to rot in hell if your not a Christian" page. With some space alien Jesus that would use Macs today. It was unprofessional und totally uncalled for. It was nuts.

You, and the cast of the Dukes of Hazard (in character) are about the only people I know who use the word "dang"

I've used it many times. It depends on where you live.

Like if you go north "WICKED" is used lots.

As in "That is WICKED cool"
