That's what I thought. How much is this crap?

I drank something with gold flakes in it, but it wasn't vodka. I remember it being cinnamon flavoured.

And just what and how do the diamonds filter? Is it mechanical or chemical filtration? Diamonds up to one carat? The larger the filtration media, the less efficient it is at filtering small particles. If filtration is necessary, I would think they would target impurities in the micron size. Sounds hokey to me. I'm an old Stoli fan. Pop a bottle in the freezer and pour shots. Nothing like ice cold Stoli without being diluted by ice.

Hi Cody,

My wife likes WoodFord Reserve. They have nice looking bottles also.

Agreed. I was thinking the same thing. I've never heard of a diamond filter before.

Since I'm a abartender and hard reading i can explain something about the filtration process to anyone interested on it (email me lucasranzuglia@yahoo.com.ar). Still a pure marketing stuff, but indeed Smirnoff did the same with Smirnoff Penka. And also Stolichnaya has a vodka witha new filtration process that requires below zero temperatures. Lot of bullshits but I can assure that at the end it really affects the final flavour achieved.
it depends in the market it will be launched the flavour profile will be different.
Another expensive stuff is the crystal bottle. Grey Goose is not a good quality vodka as common believe might suggest, its velvet texture is achieved by adding glicerine, an old trick. and the first bottle of vodka with that frorzen effect was launched by CHOPIN, not sure but think it was beggining of 90's

Maybe they should think about filtering it with moissanite instead.

But yeah, pretty pointless article if it doesn't say how much the bottle costs.

Not so expensive if you shop at Costco. Their $50 bottle is about twice the size of the bottle you find at your local chain grocery store priced at about $40.

Anyway, Gray Goose is my favorite vodka, not because of the bottle - though it's quite nifty, don't get me wrong - but, really because of the taste. Besides, good things seem to happen when the Goose if flowing:

I'll never buy that now that I know that, but I did remember that we don't buy Grey Goose - it is Chopin that we buy.

I am a SKYY drinker myself. The cost to taste ratio is pretty damn good (especially buying at Costco). When mixed with something, you can't even taste the Vodka, and when straight shooting, it goes down smooth. I've had Grey Goose, and am not a big fan (don't like the taste, nor the price). Never tried Ketel One or Belvedere, but have heard they are very good. A little pricier though.

so you all should know that vodka is made by adding water to pure ethal alcohol - which is like 10 cents a gallon or something like that - made from corn mostly but can be made from any sugery starchy thing - used in many household products and ethanol. yes then you filter it to get it more pure - but charcol works great - even a hiking water purifier will do it.

I spoke to people in the industry about this test, and they said the test was loaded. Grey Goose was the first shot to be taken, which because the palette (sp?) is not 'primed', came off as being the harshest tasting. If the order had been changed I think you will find the results to be different.

Apparently I need to go to Costco. In NH, they only sold liquor at state liquor stores. Do they sell it at Costco in GA? Do they HAVE Costco in GA?

But if experts are fooled b/c their palates aren't "primed," what difference in taste will the average mouth-breather find? Wasn't the point of the 60 Minutes test really to show that there's no discernable difference? I know I don't usually prime my palate during a night of drinking. Am I missing out?

The point which I was trying to make is that the second drink always tastes better than the first - which is why da tinth drink tastee beeter dan da ninteeh.

Because you are still young, and your taste buds are still maturing. There are things I though tasted nasty when I was your age, that now, I do not.

Vodka isn't one of them however, gives me heartburn.

Ambush, lots of people hate the taste of dark beer, or dry red wine.

I like it. When I drink I drink with a meal. Usually one beer, or one glass of wine.

Not enough to get even buzzed. But I like the taste.

Jagermeister is another. Love the taste. Only take a shot.

I usually never do it though because it works like a liquid enema.

So yes, people drink because they like the taste.

I mean, I like the taste of beer, but liking it does not imply I need to get drunk on it.

I think that it is best to find something at a reasonable price the you like. Expensive doesn't necessarily mean quality.
