Sorry, tuned in late, but they have to be kidding me with that boom box and a 99$ leather case. Yikes!

I don't think it was so bad, but certainly not the best.
Problem is, everyone let themselves get carried away thinking about a widescreen video iPod with touchscreen, WiFi, Frontrow and on-demand movies that runs on sunshine and makes your room smell like cookies. That's not Apple's fault.

I actualy liked the new products. Not the leather case but the boom box looks like very good quality for the price. Its not quite 20 20 but the speks are still very good.
Also im so glad they put four usb's and a dual procesors in the new mac mini.
I might even buy one for the tv. Im not amazed by anything he anounced though.

Bingo. People read the "rumor" sites and act as if those are reliable sources. No one but Apple knows what will be announced. It's not their fault if people are disappointed.

I hope so. 1.5GHz Core Duo iBook with 64MB or 128MB ati mobile and widescreen display.
(Made of Titanium would be nifty. A mini TiBook. )

Who's your source?! I'm reporting you to the proper authorities for corporate espionage!

Even if there had been no rumors whatsoever, I would have been disappointed by this.

You know what, for the iBook I'd actually prefer onboard graphics over a dedicated card. I would take battery life over performance.
I think the Mac mini (with DualCore option!) was a good product update.

I'm only slightly disappointed because I bought into the iPod hype.
I wanted that cookie smell, dammit.
The new Mac mini looks okay, sans the video card (but maybe it won't be that bad).
And that boombox thing could use an am/fm tuner to make it slightly less lame.

I don't think that is it, I have been drooling for the iPod Hi-fi for a couple years thinking Apple would come out with some stunning design that I would love to have on display. Instead they give us a big ugly centre channel speaker with an ipod sitting awkwardly on top.
Even the handles are useless as you have to carry it with 2 hands.
A $100 leather iPod case as boring as that is pathetic.

For pure processing power, the Intel Core Duo Mac Mini for $800 is the best price/performance computer Apple has ever released.
The single core....meh.

that ipod case is pretty bad. the vaja case is cheaper (though not cheap), has access to the controls, and comes in a variety of color combinations.

I think a lot of people are confusing the bitching going on with disliking the mini. This show was truly worthless. Apple knew by making an event that everyone would be thinking it would be a new Apple product or something really cool.
We got a mini that was expected before now and 2 overpriced, lame accessories that have already been done before. The bitching is more about why did Apple waste our time with this. Heh, and false advertising. Where's the fun?

When the last Powerbook update was released last year (the one with the higher res screen), it was a press event but wasn't done by SJ, I think this Boombox * mini event was not worthy of being a Stevenote, even if it was in a small theatre. It should have been done the same way as the Powerbook event last year.
I think the mini is a nice machine, its just a shame that the price hike puts it closer to a 17" iMac when you put the monitor etc setup with it. The iPod cases are a waste of time. The boombox looks like a nice piece of kit, I'm not sure what I was expecting the boombox to be like before yesterday, but I'm not disappointed by it.
PS. Question: Is the boombox usable as computer speakers/iPod dock to connect to a Mac?

I dunno, it may look fast until the CPU starts having to do the graphics card work. Plus the higher end mini is so close to costing the same as the iMac that unless you have your keyboard and a pretty good monitor it is totally not worth it.
