Really. In the second photo he is ducking like the tennis ball is a real cricket ball aimed for his head or something.
I don't see how hard they could be bowling with a tennis ball either, since it will bounce far too high.
But yeah, whatever. Bush sucks at cricket

As if Bush's security guys would be letting anyone throw lumps of cork and leather at him.
It's something I would have loved to have seen, but it was never going to happen. I am just surprised he's managed to hold the bat the correct way round.

That first pic is weird, is the ball coming at him or is it off the bounce? They should have atleast taped the tennis balls up.. that's what we do atleast.

I don't understand why people take his inability to speak coherently as him being retarded...seriously, I don't agree with everything he's done, but I think people have taken some of this a bit too far...

The thing is, if I knew every moment of my life was being filmed, I wouldn't put myself in stupid situations like that. Why do politicians always feel the need to take part in sports when the cameras come out? i.e. Bush falling off his bike, Segway; Tony Blair and his recent terrible attempt at football in a Chinese PR call; many other less famous dignitaries making fools of themselves. They should just say no!

Bush bowled with the wrong arm -- the one that wasn't holding the ball. The ball in the top, left-hand corner of the photo was pasted in after the photo was taken. Here is the original.

I don't think that's it--otherwise they wouldn't be letting Cheney go hunting!

President George Bush is athletic. He enjoys sports and is a natural.

I wouldn't worry about how low people are going, you guys are in power, there is no reason to lack confidence over this fact.
I don't see why we can't make fun of politicians regardless of our political beliefs. If your political beliefs aren't as secure enough as to withstand people teasing Bush over his cricket playing abilities without feeling defensive....
It's not as if any politician has given us reason for us to defend them unconditionally and maintain complete loyalty to them... we aren't on their payroll.
I can understand how personal character tactics in the context of political debate can be frustrating, but we're merely poking fun outside of a political context.
