My mission is complete if this action results in more people who know that a 'computer' can be fun too.

(and windows sucks)

A very honorable endeavor.

You should get pics of the computers in use there and send this story to Apple. I think they would like to hear about this.

Just use cheap USB PC keyboards, you should be able to get them for around 5$ each.

What commercial / freeware OS9 software would you suggest to children between 12 and 18 that can improve their opportunities in their future lives?

I know OS9 is old, but these imacs wont run OSX. So this is just to teach people the basics of computing, and hopefully getting them excited enough to get to know a modern profession like DTP-artist, network administrator, musician or photographer.

I leave on friday.

I'd say try and load them with business software or CAD stuff.

The last thing anyone needs in a developing country is the population wanting to be DTPers, artists and photographers. Those places need CAD people, business people, construction engineers, etc., etc..

Wow, that is great! This is globalization at work, and in a positive way.

Great work. Getting more people connected to the rest of the world should be everyone's goal.

2 minutes per Mac? How many flights did you have to make it up?

Well no, I wouldn't spend $250 on one... unless I knew i could turn around and sell it to some idiot for more.

Way back in '02 or so, I bought a used Pismo for $1000, and sold it for $1800. Caveat emptor.

Hi, it's me again. I need some help with an english translation : is this good english?

---start of text---
Introducing iMacs collects Apple iMacs and sends them to people who need a good computer but cannot afford it.

So far we succeeded in finishing one Tsunami project in Sri Lanka. For the following 3 projects we accumulated 40 modern Apple Mac computers which will be shipped in February. Meanwhile we are collecting more iMacs and make preparations to help set up even more projects later this year.

We look at 2007 with a smile. This year will give us a foundation to build future projects on, possibly even in other locations. We are looking forward to cooperate with other organisations.

Our eternal thanks goes to the people who helped us get this far and make this project a success.
Read more about donations >here<
---end of text---

the project is doing great. I want to have a bilingual website for foreign visitors

Although, "organisations" is technically correct spelling - it's just the British way of spelling. Plenty of schools in countries in both Europe and Asia teach British English, so that would make sense.

We have a lot of Indian contractors who work in my department doing application development. They tend to use British spellings and slang more often than the same in American English.
For all the trash I talk, I sure own a lot of Macs...

Very true. When I was checking his article I looked it up on Wikipedia to be sure about it, and the 's' is more common in Europe, but in general both are accepted there. The 's' isn't used in America, though, so i went with the one that would have the widest acceptance.
