The AP just released a new video service which only works with Windows and IE 6.

With so many other technologies out there (especially Flash, as of late), it is unacceptable for The AP to use MSN Video to deliver their content.

This service is meant to be integrated into news organizations' websites, and I would assume that many smaller organizations will be glad to have this option.

The Mac (and Firefox, and Opera and Linux) communities need to let The AP know that they are leaving a lot of people in the dark.

I just sent an e-mail to them, and I will be doing the same for any local news organization that I see using this service. If you feel that you're being left out, let someone know.

My letter:
To Whom it May Concern:

I am extremely disappointed in The Associated Press' decision to use MSN Video as basis for the new Online Video Service. According to your own information (http://www.ap.org/ovn/browser.html), only 85% of users use the software required to view OVS content. It may be true that most of the remaining 15% have the means to access the content by switching to Internet Explorer, but it is an egregious decision to ignore the wishes of 15% of the market. There are many technologies that provide true cross-platform and cross-browser support, while the MSN Video service only works with one operating system and one browser. I urge The AP to look at the technologies others (NYT, BBC, CNN) have chosen to deliver their content to the widest possible audience
