It looks like something out of a 70's scifi movie.
Does it come with a matching jumpsuit?

I was thinking about buying them and went to the B&O store. I walked out once I found out they were 2.4GHz which would interfere nicely with Airport.
There were also about $500.

Yup they sure as hell do. On the 3 different 2.4GHz phones they all clicked like mad. Other brands just kill all wireless when you use the phone. Changing channels CAN help but not that much.

It depends on the system used. Panasonic 2.4GHz wreaks havoc on Wi-Fi. Siemens and V-Tech, on the other hand, co-exist perfectly. You can't make blanket statements.

We've got a 2.4GHz Panasonic cordless at our house and have no issues (and never have) with our wireless network. So don't go making blanket statements about Panasonics

Aren't you making a blanket statement saying "Seamins and v-tech work perfectly"
For the record my Siemens was one of the worst, clicked like mad when the airport was on.

This is the first report I've ever heard of 2.4GHz Panasonics not causing problems. Is it a recent model? Perhaps they changed their system to be compatible with Wi-Fi.

1. No, it's rather specific, and doesn't mention any models with which I have no experience.
2. Weird. I used two major generations of Siemens phones (the current generation and the one before; they don't change their systems too often) and neither one caused interference nor received it.
Back when I had a roomie (and a land line), we had a Siemens 2.4GHz, a V-Tech 2.4GHz, Wi-Fi, plus Bluetooth. None of it ever interfered with anything else.

My dad has 2 B&O shops, before you jump on me for buying so much... We have 5 BeoCom 6000's in my house, as well as a 802.11G wireless network. Neither device interfer with the other, no problems at all. I assume the 6000's and the 'com 2's use the same wireless technology, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't.

Maybe some of the new phones in the 5+ ghz range will catch on, just to avoid the problematic bandwidths. That is until WiFi goes into the same range and phones go higher too, and so on...
The only problem I've seen is with a 900mhz phone causing clicks on an equally old cell phone.

I still only buy 900 MHz phones. They're inexpensive, they work fine, and they don't interfere with my 802.11g network.
P.S. Some V-Tech 2.4 GHz phones do interfere. As far as I'm concerned, 2.4 GHz = no sale.

What in the world are you talking about? Your comment was NOT specific, you didn't say " MY Siemens and v-tech work perfectly".
I also DID NOT mention other specific brands or mention that they all do it. I said "other brands kill wireless" which could include the Panasonic's that seem to kill anything in sight.

Ya 900MHz actually work the best as the 900MHz gets through concrete better. Just like 850MHz cellphones penetrate hard objects better than 1900MHz band.
My old ass cheap v-tech had much better range than any 2.4GHz phone I have used or my current higher end 5.4GHz.
Problem is all the higher end phones have moved to 5.4GHz as people always think a new frequency is better.

So I guess the question is how to two technologies on the same frequency magically work? Perhaps if they are on total opposite channels but that trick didn't work for my Siemens.

No idea, I mean, I messed around with my wireless network when I first got it, and some channels provided quite a bit less range than others, and after about an hour, I settled on channel 1. I guess if the phones are not channel 1, it would be fine, and this certainly seems the way things are.

There are plenty of ways of doing this. Bluetooth 2.0, for example, actively avoids channels that appear to be in use. I don't know exactly how all the radio technology works, but it does. Otherwise nothing in the 2.4GHz band would work, since so many technologies use it. Some are just better at rejecting interference than others!
