The original one.

- small footprint
- raised display
- handle for carrying
- not too heavy

Seeing as I don't own all 12 of those computers, I can't give you a qualified answer. But maybe the PowerBook 12" for the design-economy necessary for such a small unit.

I cannot believe you don't have the original mac on there.

That baby is work of art and ground breaking at the time.

I voted other. The Cube was the most beautiful computer. I dunno why it didn't get its own point in the poll.

The blue PowerMac G3. The G4 looked better with the gray, but other than the color it wasn't really a significant change, and that was a Good Thing. The Yosemite case design and its descendants blended form with function in a way not really seen since the days of the Mac LC, which I'd place second. I'd put the G5 at third: although it followed many of the same principles as the G3, it doesn't work as well: the side door is a panel rather than hinged, and you've got that big air-deflector thing to deal with.

I'd like to see the Mini on there. Although it probably isn't the best ever designed, I like mine so much and think it is such a sturdy and compact design I would like to see it get some votes.

And what about adding the Twentieth Anniversary Mac? And do Newton's count? (I suppose not, since they ran Newton OS, not Mac OS).

Yeah, the G3 through MDD towers were great to work on and looked great.
The MDD had the bonus of coming with a vanity mirror.

Maybe because many of our younger members never have seen one "El Capitan" in person?!?

I think the iBook is by far the best design. Super portable, durable, good-looking and with a damn fine airport reception.

The AlBooks and TiBooks just suck in Airport

cheers

I love the iMac G5 design. I'm not judgint simply by aesthetics. It's a great design because it fits everything into one beautifully designed small package.

I'll pass on voting since the options kinda suck.

My favorites;

Desktops - Mac IIci, LC III, Power Mac 9600, Gumdrop iMac G3s, Power Mac G3 B&W, Power Mac G5.

Notebooks - PowerBooks 100, 540c, 1400, 2400, 3400 and Pismo. As well as the first white iBook, before the case went all cheap-plastic-looking.

Clones - UMAX S900, PCC PowerTower Pro.

Thats why I voted for it. Yes, I do own one (well, a core duo version), but thats not the reason I voted for it. If I had the money I would have probs bought a PowerMac. Its just the iMac truely is the most amazing computer on the market today. Its fast, its modern, but most of all, it packs the entire computer into something only slightly thicker than an LCD screen. OK, a laptop does this all the time, but the iMac has desktop performance, what with the 7200 HD and desktop graphics. No other manufacturer offers a computer with the same amazing design of the iMac. It is a clear winner in my mind.

My second choice would have been the 20th Anv Mac (not that I have ever been lucky enough to see one in the flesh, but from the pictures... ooo its nice!)
iMac Core Duo 1.83 Ghz | 1.25GB RAM | 160HD, MacBook Core Duo 1.83 Ghz | 13.3" | 60HD | 1.0GB RAM

The G5 iMac to me was a step backwards. Esp the front HUGE white space at the bottom. I guess I am used to the "streamline" look.

I think the lampshade model was better IMHO.

Yeah and with the screen down, all you'd see was the display in mid-air. No chin, no foot.

I loved that one, too.

Some people uses that white space to place post-it pieces there… I guess they never heard about Stickies

Anyway, designers use to say that white space is your friend

I'll Second that, I almost don't want to replace my Sawtooth. In Spite of it lacking some of the more recent diserables (a faster FSB, and >AGP2x) This is easily the best machine I've ever owned. It still runs well after all these years, and it's got a lot of room left to go up, and alot of options to do it with.

I voted for the iMac G4. I thought it made more sense than the current design. The iMac G5 has grown on my a bit. I also voted for the PowerBook, but I mean the PBG4

What's a Core Duo got to do with the design?
