He's in a black costume. Seems they jumped into the Venom series pretty quick. Also, Flint Marko aka Sandman is the villian. That will be some interesting special effects.
Looks like there are possibly 3 villans: Sandman, Hobgoblin (or whatever they make Osborn into) and maybe something along the line of Venom.
I hope they don't cheesball the ending like they did with 2.

The suite sucks. venom should be totally featureless except for the eyes and the logo.

It's going to be interesting to see how they proceed with the story. When I heard way back that the villan was going to be something no one had seen, I was hoping for Venom or Electro.

The red/blue suit looked great in the first two movies. Really enhanced some of the visuals.
I'm curious to see how the black suit changes the look of the movie.

as has been stated many times before, osborne will NOT be a villain. Harry realized his dad was crazy, end of story.

I'm leaning towards agreement. The suit isn't bad, but it definitely isn't what was in the comics. I found this Photoshop that someone worked up that I think looks much better and is a lot more accurate.
Either way, I wonder if Sam Rami is even going to touch the Spidey in space storyline or just say the symbiote was created in a lab. Otherwise, they could just skip the whole Venom/symbiote thing and go straight to Spidey wearing his homemade black suit - that might explain why the suit in the poster has features like the red/blue suit. It would suck if they skipped over Venom, but it could make sense since there is a lot of backstory that would need to be filled in.
Although, I've read that Sandman is going to be a villain in this one. If I remember the storyline from the comics correctly, didn't Spidey defeat the Sandman first and then Venom came along? If Spidey is indeed wearing the symbiote, and they follow the comics, then he wouldn't get the black suit until the very end of the movie - which makes that poster a complete tease.

I like the black spidey costume. It's just a shame it comes after twelenty brazillion other super hero movies have had black costumes.

I prefer the red suit, represents Spiderman. So will just have to wait and see how it turns out in the movie.

I don't see why they'd change suits midstream unless this is supposed to be a movie about a dark disturbed Spidey...
But then a gain, you know a dark and disturbed person is being dramatic when they take the time to darken their clothes...

The black costume was actually an alien from the "Secret Wars" series, wonder how they'll explain that in the movie.

Interestingly, for a while they had an actor listed as being cast as Venom on IMDB. Now he's simply listed as "attached" which I presume means something in the script has changed.
That actor's name? Topher Grace. Yes, Eric from "That 70s Show...."
Discuss.

Interesting... Makes me think of a weird scene from the cartoon I caught on JETIX recently.

Topher Grace does not personify evil in my mind.

Spiderman is the red and blue suit. Aliens, X-Men and stuff like that should never have wandered into the world of Spiderman IMO.

I agree with that. He'd make a whimpy Venom. Perhaps he could be going the route of Electro or another villian that wasn't physically big?

***MAJOR SPOILERS***
This is a leaked summary of Spiderman 3. No idea how accurate it is. Could be false, but it is interesting none-the-less. Sounds like a lot to cram into the movie...
ot: Third film in the highly successful "Spider-Man" series sees several new villains and a new woman enter Peter Parker's life. With his secret now revealed to both Mary Jane and Harry, Peter must face the consequences of his actions and his new life together with Mary Jane as they finally form a relationship. Yet their newfound open display of love has yielded some unfortunate results, not the least of which is Peter's upset boss determined to make his life hell for causing his son emotional distress. Not helping is a young investigative reporter named Eddie Brock who Jameson has hired to find out why Mary Jane dumped his son for Peter - what's Parker's secrets?
At the same time an escaped prisoner hiding out on a remote beach is caught in a dreadful accident and finds himself turned into a shape-shifting sand creature. Peter's investigations into the past of this 'Sandman' brings him in contact with two very different things that will inevitably alter his life. The first a young woman named Gwen Stacy, daughter of the city's new police chief who is developing a soft spot for Peter. The other, a black substance from an accident scene which 'merges' with Peter's costume and gives him new found abilities.
Things come to a head however when Harry Osborn, determined to take revenge against Peter for his father's death and now equipped with what he needs to pull it off, teams with The Sandman in a new variation of his father's Green Goblin guise and causes mayhem. In the ensuing chaos lives are lost, including people very close to Peter, whilst the black substance covering his suit separates from him and merges with a distraught Brock to form something else entirely - a creature unlike anything he's ever faced. A 'Venom' that he may not be able to stop."

I donno about that black suit. The black suit had a big white spider on the front of it that was very different from the Red/Blue suit.
The image on that website:
if you look closely has the webbing in the center like the red/blue suit and not the white spider. I think it's a photo that was purposely darkened to maybe foreshadow that this will be a dark movie.

I agree that this may not be a foreshadowing of Venom. The concept of Venom might be a little hard to grasp for a non-spidey fanatic.

They are calling it Spiderman in a black suit on the official website. You have to remember that it's a movie and it's not going to look exactly like the comic.

Why? Simple back suits are not possible in movies?

Possible? Yes. Likely? No. The beauty of the black costume wouldn't translate well to live action. Toby got in really good shape for this role, but it's still pretty hard to pull off a guy in a skin-tight costume, especially one with almost no features.

I thank the sweet baby Jesus that they cannot possibly fit the Secret Wars into a movie. Please just have the symbiote suit be developed by Osborn Industries. Have Parker get the flipping suit out of a gumball machine. Even that would be far better than the Secret Wars.
Seriously, the Secret Wars was pure maggot infested crap. No redeeming value. Crap art, crap writing, crap plot, crap character changes. It was a pathetic rush job by Marvel to get a big series out the door to compete with DC's Crisis on Infinite Earths. Crap crap crap.
