Cragganmore nite men!
Celebrating 2 funerals: the wife of a friend who died last Saturday after almost 4 years fighting against cancer. She was 40 years old.
And the Aunt of one of my staff, who will also be having her funerals tomorrow. Cancer again.
Still, St-Patrick is a bit about celebrating Life.
So here's ta ya'all!
Aweall!

Perhaps because of my traditional Christian upbringing, I've always been incredibly struck and awed by the concept of celebrating death with a rip-roaring, alcohol-induced wake. It's the best thing I could imagine.
I've got a couple essays to plan and a seminar on Samuel Huntington and Francis Fukuyama to prepare for. . . but I picked up some Guinness on the way home, just to satisfy the Newfie in me.
Cheers. Here's to life.

I guess it is one of those crazy ways to defy death.
Here's to you!
BTW, I had a dream.
I was on my bicycle, going home. It was becoming dark, so I took a trail between some buildings leading to a landfill. There were children there. One of them showed me the way down a ravine and told me to hurry before the waters would get higher with the current. He also wept and said something like "water flows like the tears of Jesus on the pains of this world" and walked away.
So I crossed the little river and it turned into a blzzard with big snowflakes. My tires were slicks but I got home anyway.
It was just so warm in there!
Then I woke up, a bit sad.

I'm very sorry to hear about your losses. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
