That's Japanese all right. Never heard of it before, though; it looks pretty old.

Edit: Yep, it's from the 70's. Wikipedia Japan has an article. The show is called Kure Kure Takora ("Gimme Gimme Octopus-man").

That is one weird show, it's like freaky trip to rubber monsterville. A little scary too. The only normalcy was the seat cushion and pillow (not in rubber?).

Also, I inexplicably lost hours of my life after watching the clip.
I woke up in a car parked in a Baltimore suburb. I don't know what happened.
