I just built my first computer and installed Mandrake Linux. I need to login as root but have no idea how to! (Don't want to join a Linux forum, so I decided to go here, can someone please help me?)

You also need to be in the wheel group to sudo.

Why Mandrake? What interested you in that? If you are new to Linux, I'd suggest Ubuntu.

Thanks, got it working, my friend gave me a copy of Mandrake and told me to try it out. I'll try Ubuntu when I get some free time.
