Notice the article that is linked to actually says: "All but confirmed?"

The question mark is an easy out for them to say they weren't wrong.

Not interested until it will be compatible with Verizon Wireless.

And if it DOES become comatible with that crappy provider, Verizon won't allow you to use it with your Mac the same as if Cingular or Sprint would.

That's because IT ALWAYS IS in the end. What was the last "leaked" image that turned out true? Last I remember was the slot loading CRT iMacs.

The resin molds for the G5 case. Those turned out to be real.

This was debunked. He was joking around when he said that. It wasn't serious.

Show me a link that debunks it: My take is that his PR people advised him to take it back and say he was only kidding, that if he didn't it could screw up the deals for SLVR L7 and other moto phones with iTunes integration.

He said things to that effect more than once that week.

Yeah I do know that Moto and Apple do not get along. I would be surprised if he was joking about that. Moto isn't exactly known for innovation or forward thinking. Its really funny to see which CEO's choose to badmouth Apple and their products. Its usually the ones who head companies that wouldn't know innovation if it slapped them in the face. And they almost always end up eating their words. I love it.

I can't find the specific story I read, it's been a long time, but I seem to remember hearing that it was said as a humorous and sarcastic response to the 25th question in a row about the Nano, when he was supposed to be talking about the ROKR. I think the specific question was about the Nano's 1,000 song limit compared to the ROKRs 100.

I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, who knows, I wasn't there. I just have a hard time believing that he would say something so dumb at a press conference.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

I stand by my impression - He shot off a remark and PR tried to take it back.

Consider the time: He was fighting carriers to carry it when carriers want to use their own charge-for-music/ringtones/etc. service, not let users listen to music they already own (iTMS/iTunes) and at the same time having to confront the fact that his ROKR E1 phone is artificially limited to 100 songs even if there's RAM available for far more. Add insult to injury, the phone was announced at the same time as the Nano that can hold much more with no such artificial limitation. Of course he was going to disparage the Nano.

Moto even has their own iRadio service that works with ROKR E2 instead of iTunes.

How about a phone that does all the things WE KNOW they should be able to do!

My motorola phone had everything I want in a phone, but Verizon cripples it... and Motorola doesn't support anything.

My phone can:
- Play video
- Play MP3s
- Take Pictures
- Has bluetooth
- Can play games
- Has a 512MB chip in it

Of those things, I have to hack the thing to get the images off of it... the videos are also hacked to get them off... There is no interface for either (like iPhoto or iMovie would offer). The MP3 player (while it plays the MP3s perfectly) is a nightmare to upload new songs to... and organize them.

The bluetooth can do little more than synch my phone numbers (it should be able to do HUNDREDS of cool things!!!) It barley connects to my computer... which makes NO SENSE!!!

I can only play the lame games that I buy for $8 or more... for PAC MAN!!! A game created 25+ years ago!!!

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!

Apple should be able to run circles around these idiots...

And everyone knows that they can. Apple knows it too. The question is, when (if ever) is the right time to release such a product? I'm sure there are a ton of other things that factor into the answer to that question, other than the fact that Apple can no doubt destroy all these chumps with one simple product. I have a feeling that guys like Moto, SonyEricsson, Nokia, etc are all sweating bullets just waiting to see if Apple will come out with something that will make them all look like amateurs.

If Apple made an iPhone, it would be easy to penetrate the GSM market because they use SIM cards, even if they cost $500 (no subsidization).
On the other hand, it would be nearly impossible to inflitrate Verizon's market, since they don't support SIM cards. In this case, Verizon would demand their branding on the iPhone, and a feature cripple.
