Does anyone here listen to audio books?

I find lying on the couch with headphones on being read to very relaxing. I started with fiction but lately have been getting into the 'The Teaching Company (TTC) Lecture Series'.

Very good stuff.

Just got 'The History of Islam'.

Will start being lectured to to-nite and see what all the fuss is about.

I listen to audio books, mainly while driving on long trips. The Harry Potter series is read so very well by Jim Dale.

For some reason, having something I'm not used to helps keep me aware. Where as music might hype me up a bit, after a while, I know most of the songs on my iPod or CDs, and I lose the "edge."

I can't stand listening to books. I guess I'm old school.

I bought a few. But listening to M Crichton "State of Fear" was such a dread! First, I could not stand the lecturing tone of the pseudo science. But worst: the digestive sounds of the reader made it unacceptable to me.

Not an experience I want to have again, thank you.

I only recently tried listening to an audio book (on the bus, at home, and in the car) and each time I could barely get through a few minutes. I just lost focus really quickly. I tried with 2 books and now I'm ready to give up.
