My friends are looking for a summer project. A MAME cabinet seems like a practical venture.

The computer hardware is the easy part. What I'm interested in knowing is what solutions are available for controller input? I know there are companies that manufacture USB control stick boards specifically for use in these cabinets. Does anyone have any experience with these?

Also, has anyone here built the physical cabinet?

While a good project, i would simply buy a cabinet (they sell all over the place) and then tinker over the summer with the insides.

My friend built one. Got one of those USB arcade joystick panels - it works great. For the screen, he used a cheap 20" TV.
