I have never considered investing in stocks. But it is my humble opinion that demand for the Macintels is going to surge dramatically over the course of the year and even more once Leopard is released. Boot camp, is going to bring over millions of switchers to Apple hardware (and hopefully the Mac OS)...ppl who used to use Windows and/or Linux. revenue (and margins) is going to go through the roof imo.

I am seriously considering investing into Apple stock now and leaving it until the surge (post-Leopard) is demand subsides.

Any ppl here with suggestion/recommendations ? How do i go about buying shares in Apple ?

Cheers

Are you sure?
What use is a Mac to a windows user? Macs are more expensive (much more) plus you have to buy a windows license, which adds another 200-300$ to the calculation.

Would you pay for that, only to have a look at Mac OS without a risk?
(Well it is still a risk. Assume apple stops boot camp development because it has bad effects on sales).
Would you, as a Mac user, buy a Dell notebook for 3000$ that looks nice (just an assumption ) and is high quality (another assumption - please use your fantasy), only because Microsoft offers a way to boot Mac OS?

If you had Apple Stock options, it might be smart to sell them now and keep the margin. But as soon as analysts start to think a second time...

I certainly agree that Boot Camp is going to push Apple's sales way up. Countless times I've heard friends say, "Well, I really want a Mac, but my business uses a program(s) that only runs on Windows. That's the only reason I have to have a PC."

Many people want Macs, but have to have Windows. Boot Camp gives them the best (if Microsoft even has a "best") of both worlds.

With imacs and mac minis being as affordable as they are, I may buy one because of this. I currently don't own a mac, but this makes me more interested.

On the other hand, if there is a way to boot OS X on a windows box, I would probably do that instead... save me the cost of buying a new machine just to get OS X.

Oh, and if I bought a mac I would have to buy a new version of Windows because I only have Windows 2k and not XP SP2. So all in all it would be a pretty expensive switch just to run OS X. So I guess I wont do it yet.... I'll hold out until my PC can run OS X and then buy OS X instead. I don't really care about the stylish case and hardware, but I do like the OS.

Don't do it unless

* you are willing to have that money sit in Apple stock for at least 2-3 years
* you are willing to take a hit for a while
* you have NO NEED for the money anytime soon

That will not happen, because Apple acts as a hardware company. If OS X runs on cheap boxes apples hardware sale will go down the drain.
In my opinion OS X is the best apple has to sell. It sells its hardware (plus design and plus iPods).

You should have bought it when the stock was $12 five years ago.

So you think that a box can run OS X and Windows, but not the other way around? I think someone will put out a utility that will do it.

If you feel that to be the case, then buy. I hope you have something more than feelings to backup your purchase, however.

Last time I checked, someone did get OS X running on a windows box, it involved an external disk, seperate hard drive, and booting from a Linux live CD.

Invalid argument in this day and age.

Go to Dell's website, build a notebook with comparable specificiations to the MacBook Pro, and you'll see nearly identical prices. Remarkable!

That doesn't count.
I have 1200$ and want to buy a 15 inch notebook. THAT counts.

I got someone on the Everquest 2 forums to switch. If that isn't enough evidence, I don't know what is.

However, stocks are finnicky. Be careful.
