I am not just talking about MacNN. I mean I don't ever want to see that crap on any website. If there results were the least bit relevant I wouldn't even mind.
Can you use a router to block it? Custom CSS script in Safari.
I don't like using PithHelmet as I find it slows down the whole browser more than loading an ad does.

I've never seen any. Not even here.
Can you point me to a page which uses it?

I'm not doing anything special - just running Safari 2.0.2 with pop-ups blocked. Only setting not default is "Accept Cookies: Only from sites you navigate to".

Yeah, but it doesn't "come and go" for me - I've never, ever seen any. Ever.
Why? If I knew the answer as to why that was we could perhaps have some kind of a solution to your problem.

Do you even know what you are looking for?
Ok it seems when I turn on "Private Browsing" they disappear so cookies could be the culprit.
here is a screengrab, when I rollover those stupid double underlined green links you get that box

Yeah, I don't get it in Safari either. Don't know why. There must be something kind of incompatible about their Javascript.

Yeah, I gathered it was something to do with green text and pop-ups.

Try Safari with the "only sites navigated to" cookie setting then.

Will Saft be able to handle this? I use it, and I think it has some filters built-on, or user-adjustable.

So why are you getting it and I'm not?
What variables do we have?
1) Location.
2) Router.
3) Network setup.
4) Safari build number.
5) Safari settings.
6) Safari add-ins.
1) UK. It's not US specific since you're in Canada. It's not NA specific since I've seen Germans whine about it.
2) Intertex IX66.
3) Router -> switch -> Mac.
4) 2.0.2 (416.13)
5) Default, aside from cookie settings and download destination.
6) None.

The IntelliTXT underlines don't seem to show up in Shiira ever. I don't know if that's because of a bug in Shiira or what, but I'm not going to complain about it.

Iwork from Monstermarketplace? Fast shipping? Secure shopping? Cool! How do I get these ads to show up for me??
I also like all of the 400 Bad Request things.. I can only get 1 bad request at a time, I don't know how you managed to pull off 400 of them!

It differs itself from normal links with gree underlines. If you don't need to do some eshopping or find bargains you can ignore ads with a special piece of hardware called 'YOU'.
Others find bargain shopping very useful. As long as it's not useless or spam I'll read anything.

So have any of you seen a write-up that details exactly how Dumbtext does this?
I do see the word "Apple" green-underlined in the above link to the Mactel/Bootcamp stuff.
But when I look at the code for the page there is " Windows XP. Apple said that Boot Camp will be..." with NOTHING coded around the word Apple.
Also strange is how the pop-up box jump in and out as I move cursor across the word "Apple" or as I move it from "Apple" toward the box".
Since I believe in practicing "know thy enemy"... it'd be v. interesting to know something about how they do it.

Not if my browser is doing that special thing called "locking up while it loads a bunch of shitty Intellitxt ads."

BTW, I notice that on MacNN privacy/Intellitext page the link shows:
"http : / / macnn.us.intellitxt.com/intellitxt/switch.asp?IPID=3076&state=off&url=http://www.macnn.com/privacy/intellitxt/"
".asp" ! but most of the MacNN stuff runs off php/mysql, doesn't it? So they're going to trouble to use Asps for this wonderful new technology?

Jeez man, have you a 100mhz computer? Mine is just a 1ghz G4 and have no problem. They aren't pretty but think what would happen if sites had no revenue?
All the good sites that get thousands of hits and cost money to pay for bandwidth would be gone.
Solution would be for Intellitext whoever they are to make their ads better looking and less hungry if it's true your puter locks up.

Am I missing some sarcasm here? I haven't seen anything useful in those ads at all. And they're NOT easy to ignore. Maybe it's just my mousing habits, but when I encounter a page with the ads I inadvertently get at least half of them to pop up above the text I'm trying to read, or the real links I'm trying to click!
As soon as I found out about it I installed SafariBlock (installs as a regular InputManager, doesn't require updating when Safari's version number changes, free!) and used the filter *intellitxt* and I've never seen them since.
I'm also curious why Doofy doesn't see the ads at all.

It's your mousing habits. I use my eyes not my mouse to read articles. I can tell the blue ones are links. I can tell the green ones are intellitext and click on the green ones if they provide something useful like a link to a bargain. The only problem I saw with them so far is I didn't see anything interesting in their popup.

Just a guess, but you might be able to use a custom CSS stylesheet in Safari to prevent these links from showing...
