What will the new iBooks (MacBooks) look like?

Do you think they will be pretty much the same as the iBooks but a tad thinner and a 13 inch screen?
Technical specs aside I really hope they make some radicle design changes. When the iBooks first came out there were built to be rugged and sell to the more casual user and schools. The first "toilet seat" ibooks were a good idea but a little garish.
The latch-less lid, handle, tough outer shell and handle were are awesome ideas even if they weren't implemented that well.
I would LOVE it if the new models brought back those features especially the handle.
Colours I am not too concerned with although some sort of textured material would be cool.
Personally I own a snow iBook and even though it looks nice it wasn't rugged or have any features that made it stand out from the 12" powerbooks.

the current crop of rumors say they'll come in different colors. ever since the nano replaced the iPod mini, people still ask what colors it comes in, so people do seem to want it.

I would love it if Apple introduced a laptop aimed at corporate use. 13-14" screen, easily servicable, docking station, modem, and the features of a MacBook but not made of frigging aluminum.

What is wrong with aluminum?
By the way we are talking about a low end consumer notebook here.

It's not durable enough. Could you imagine if the school kids that get iBooks were given 12" Powerbooks instead? They'd look like golf balls after a month. Corporate users aren't much more gentle. I've seen a Dell laptop shipped back to HQ from a remote location in nothing but a Fedex envelope.

I know, but a corporate laptop wouldn't need to be much different. Give an iBook a removable hard drive tray and a docking station port and you're 90% of the way there. Apple could almost kill two birds with one stone.

Even being a good looking laptop, I don't think it can compare with the original iBook, it was so cool that you want to play with it all the time.

Ugh.. I know taste is subjective, but to me that thing was horrible. Talk about functionless design and wasted space. The Thinkpad 570 was released that same year and made a lot more sense with its form factor.
I guess it did the job of grabbing attention and standing out at a time when Apple needed to, but that's just not necessary anymore.

I'm hoping they at least be thin. I'd really like it if they'd be available in black, though.

I did draw the babes like a neodymium babe- magnet. One "function" I liked!

What about carbon fiber? Any materials engineers here? Is carbon fiber a good material for a laptop?

You're a jerk, Cubeoid (or whoever you might be). Not only do you start false threads, but you have to curse this one. You know there are kids on these forums who just might have been exposed to such grotesqueness because of your childishness.
You've made history, though-- yours is the first post I've ever reported!

I don't. I suspect. He sent me a link to the same picture some time ago, which I naively clicked on. But, you're right. I apologize if it's not him. Still, I mean what I wrote. In any case, the point is to get rid of this jerk.
Edit: That's better. Thanks!

I hope the new MacBooks are significantly different in some way to the current iBooks. Thinner is great, but the iBook needs a redesign.
