LIVE Eagle Eye Cam

Check out this live video stream of a mother eagle sitting on two eggs. The eggs are due to hatch around April 26th.

Here's a few FAQ's from the FORUM page.

About the Eagles
Which the the male? Which is the female?!
As with many of our other friends in the animal kingdom, the female is larger than the male. Roughly 30%, to be exact. The female Eagle also has a 'hookier' beak, and is generally more protective and aggressive.

How many eggs do eagles lay?
Eagles lay from one to three eggs. Five to ten days after a successful copulation, the female lays a speckled off-white or buff colored egg about the size of a goose's. The second egg is laid a few days later, followed by a possible third.

When were the eggs laid? When are they expected to hatch?
The eggs were laid on March 21st and 24th, and are expected to hatch around the 26th and 30th respectively. Make sure you book the time off work!

How long has this pair been mating?
Eagles mate for life unless one is killed in which case the other will

try to find another mate. Eagles have been known to live past 40 in the wild and 60+ in captivity.

I think sometimes it is. And other times, not.

When is one and when's the other?

It's not you, it's the MacNN Server, often called the "hamster".

The hamster might be sick, or not fed properly, or on strike. Who knows. Just happens every now and then...

Here's an update from the NEWS section at the website.

April 20, 2006
Hearing Background Noise!
The eagles nest is placed on private property, where the owners sometimes do yard work which can make some noise. The eagles are safe and are not bothered by this background noise. Thank you for your inquires!
A moment ago it screeched. Just one screech.

The old link has been retired and servers upgraded. Here's the new link. Flush your browser cache and use Windows Media Player. Flip4Mac doesn't work; need to submit the site to the developer so he can add support.

mms://array.galaxytelevision.net/hh001

This link should be more reliable.

Apparently, the eggs are only a day or two away from hatching. At Eagle Cam forum, there is a daily breakdown of the events at the nest (egg turning, feeding, who's on the nest, etc) with screenshots.

They should've went with Quicktime.

There are lots of complaints about the web feed at the eagle cam forum, both from Mac and PC users. It seems the best bet is to view the archived video footage in the links I've provided above.

I can get the stream to work, but like you said, it fails after a couple of minutes. Then I have to reload it. Try bookmarking it in Windows Media Player and reloading it from there.

Wow at least before it didnt freeze up EVERY single time... this is really unfortunate considering the chicks are going to be born any day. I have to reboot the link every 20 or 30 sec today. Ready to give up... guess I could watch the already recorded stuff but that loses the whole point of the live cam. I mean I can watch them being born on a discovery channel program as well... just not the same thing. - mr_eddie

Have any of you tried the "Troubleshooting" tech help page?

http://forum.infotecbsi.com/viewforu...a935c756d4b333

The audio goes out on my reception and it gets jerky frequently, but not so much that I'd feel the need to expend effort to make it better. It'll do for me.

But, if it was any worse than it is, yes, I would take action or complain or both.

I had to reload Quicktime player at least 10x before it worked and then it cut out almost immediately.
