Apple charged like $20 for an engraved iPod.

Aston Martin are charging $1640 for an engraved Nokia 8800 phone!!

http://www.ipodhub.net/articles/2006...ia_royale.html

Is there something special I am missing about this phone? The Aston Martin phone has no details on what is so great about it. I can buy a MacBook Pro for that!!!!!

well to be fair they are only charging $600 for the engraving as that phone is waaaaay overpriced to begin with.

My buddy won one, it is nice but heavy, the OS and features are bla and the batter like 90% of Nokia phones is horrible.

Given that the margin on that phone is probably stupidly big to begin with, and then they're adding $600 or so for frickin' engraving, I'd have to say that as long as they sell more than, like, 2 of 'em, Aston Martin are not crazy.

The handful of people who actually buy the things, though: they're stark raving bonkers.

I'd pick a VW with nano over a Renault with iPod Vid any day.

But the 8800 does look good. It's always the same with Nokia. The only models that look good over way overpriced and "under-featured". Everything else they make it butt ugly.

LOL echoed.

Renault is an innovator, VW isn't.

VW engines are retard. That W8, the best VW can do, is the joke of the car industry.

The Golf, VW's hero sucks big time since its second incarnation, even the Opel's car in such market segment has a better engine, name it Kadett, Astra or future automobile.

Every Renault Diesel engine from the kiddy 1.5 dci to the 2.0 dci beats the VW counterpart on fuel consumption, they are quieter, they have less vibrations… they don't smoke that much.

Renault's quality is not german nowadays, but german quality is Mercedes-Benz, not freaking VAG standard you can get from SEAT and Skoda.

With Carlos Gosh in front of Renault, they are going to get a huge step forward in terms of quality. Ask Nissan, they went from 'oh dear it is over' to create a great range of cars.

Renault has mind, they saw how good is to have a good range of commercial vehicles a long time ago. VW range is sluggish, who wants one?

Renault can compete and even win in F1. All VW can do is to get a Herbbie sequel.

Renault executives don't waste money on freaking expensive b*tchs out there in Copacabana, ask Helmuth Schuster or Klaus Volkert about it.

But hey, if you like VW, that is fine, just letting you know how the automobile world is nowadays.

I've got a Renault Megane as a company car. It's not a bad drive, but breaks down all the time. 2 years old, done 73000 miles, and been into the garage about 5 times in the last year.

My wife has the old style Renault megane cabriolet. She likes it, but I think it is horrid. I would use the word "compromise" to describe its design, but that would imply that some thought was actually invested in its design!!

I have a Merc, which although not perfect, is a world of difference from the Renault

Hence I wrote about the quality side of the thing… I can not read a detailed explanation there at top gear site, what stuff breaks down and so… I am sure a good portion is due to the ineptitude of the people at the garage, they (Renault) put much stuff inside some models like the Laguna II and then mechanics at dealers have a hard time to get it fixed if it fails.

Being honest I don't understand that kind of cars… and now every car maker wants one, 206cc, Micra c+c… they are small in its original conception and they make them smaller with that kind of two more what? cockpits… I guess ladies like them, but that is all about them.

Dude, there is a world of difference between a Mercedes-Benz and every other car you place side by side with it. There is no place for comparison. I DON'T UNDERSTAND how generic makers like citroën, renault, peugeot, vw, lancia, fiat, whatever… WANT TO COMPETE with Mercedes-Benz, BMW… How can one justify spending -wasting really- big money buying something like the 806 (peugeot's german wannabe) instead of getting the real thing?… or even worse, how could one spend MORE MONEY buying a freaking citroën c6 than e.g. a MB E Class?, you don't get even a proper engine, for god's sake…
