I'm trying to think of the name of a board game I played before. The game board was very simple - it was essentially just one row of spaces:

White:[ ][ ][ ]...etc...[ ][ ][ ]:Black

Each player would take turns taking their pieces from their piles and put them on the board, and there was jumping and the like. I can't for the life of me remember the precise rules or the name of the game, so I can't even google it.

Does anyone know what game I'm thinking of?

so it's just a single row of spaces? not a grid or a square? my first thoughts were Go and othello, but i don't think those are what you're thinking of.

can you draw the board and/or the pieces?

That's what my [ ]'s were suppose to be =D

Just imagine the top row of a chess board. The players are sitting at opposite ends. From there, everything is foggy.

Hmm, do you remember the goal of the game or anything?

Maybe your mum and dad couldn't afford a whole chessboard and tried to get you one a bit at a time . I've never heard of a game played on one strip of squares though.

Oh well. It was going to me an example of a simple use of array's where the index indicates the position on the board for my programming class.

Pfft. Risk is the only board game.

Risk 2210 kicks ass.

I believe the objective of the game is to get all your pieces to the other end of the line. To do this you can move a piece or jump over an opponents piece.

Memory is foggy, and don't know the name of it.

I think it's either Othello or Backgammon.
