So what happens if I'm channel surfing and I pass by a channel as its going to commercial? I get frozen?
Yeah, right.

"We developed a system where the viewer can choose, at the beginning of a movie, to either watch the movie without ads, or watch the movie with ads," the company stated. "It is up to the viewer to take this decision, and up to the broadcaster to offer the various services."
That sounds better… ads ruin any try to watch a movie on TV, but don't make me to pay a fee, OK?

Do people even care about commercials other than that they're boring and interruptive?
I don't think of myself as very advanced but I've never seen a commercial that made me want to buy something. I know that the networks make money by selling ad space but do the ads really even make an impression on anyone?
"Oh, look at the funny frogs!" (subconcious: "I. Must. Buy. Budweiser.")
I just don't understand it.
I dumped my TV long ago and don't miss it. It's not important to miss American Idol, you know.

They need to invent a device that stops you from going to the kitchen for some delicious snacks and beverages.

Why would I want to pay money for a "made for TV" movie?
Even worse, why I would I want to pay money to watch a movie that's been "edited for TV?"
That's just stupid.

Exactly, the article @ msnbc says the anti-channel changing technology might not sit well with consumers and suggested in its patent filing that consumers be allowed to avoid the feature if they paid broadcasters a fee hence my post about not paying a cent. I have enough paying everytime I rent a movie.
